Transformative Multi-Year Expansion Announced for WDS Paris

I suspect the expansion is part of the deal with the French government to defe the third park and keep their land. It will happen but cov may delay things
Well, the government can’t mandate WHAT they build. They could just do Marvel land and Frozen land for now.

it is an odd layout, but imagine how awesome the view will be when you walk into the park and see that giant ice castle like 1/2 mile away. the wow factor at entry will be pretty high. I do however wish theyd just go hard with frozen/fantasy style lands around the new lake. Star wars is cool and all but id rather see a giant frozen area, maybe wait and see how the new peter pan area at tokyo goes (which i think will be spectacular) and then build an area like that instead of star wars

yeah i agree it would look awesome but it will feel odd having such a gap around the lake on both sides for what I assume will be a significant amount of time.

I would welcome a significantply expanded frozen concept, maybe a family coaster like the Severn Dwarfs minecart from MK and something very much aimed at the younger crowd, a flat ride or show etc.

I would love a Star Wars land still but it only ever looks like we were going to get a small version of the US Galaxy edge’s. Having been to Florida earlier this year it was amazing but something different wouldn’t go amiss.

That's not a suspicion, it was pretty much confirmed that since TWDC was putting big $$ in WDSP, the French could also make an effort & further extend La Convention.
Is there a minimum number of Euro that must be spent or is it just “build something substantial“?
Since there were a few questions over the document, I did some digging. Here is the latest update on this:

"Si au 24 mars 2036, la société pivot (Disney) ou son cessionnaire n'a pas demandé l'inclusion dans un programme détaillé correspondant à la réalisation d'une troisième attraction touristique majeure susceptible d'attirer chaque année des millions de visiteurs supplémentaires par rapport à ceux qui viennent visiter les Parcs Disneyland et Walt Disney Studios, l'EPA pourra commercialiser les terrains non utilisés du site de l'Érable"

--> By 24th of March 2036, detailed plan of what will be built, i.e: realization of a third major tourist attraction likely to attract millions of additional visitors each year compared to those who come to visit the Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios Parks

In addition, there could be another extension IF:
"jusqu'à la date à laquelle un seuil d'au moins 22 millions de visiteurs annuels aura été atteint par les deux parcs existants, étant entendu qu'en pareil cas, la réalisation de cette troisième attraction majeure devra être prévue dans un programme détaillé signé au plus tard le 23 mars 2040"
--> If both existing parks reach 22million guests per year by 24th of March 2036, they can extend it again 4 years (--> 2040), and by 2040, they must present to the French gov't their detailed plan for the 3rd "major tourist attraction"

So no. An elaborate churro stand would be acceptable as long as there’s “a plan” in 16 years.

Really interesting- good detective work. I guess the 22 million requirement for extension are what drives the expansions and investment but 2036 is so far away DLP could postpone a lot of investment for a long time.
The ’detailed plan’ for the third gate is interesting, I might be wrong but it reads like disney doesn’t have to actually build or commit to building anything in the timeframe just design the park. It will be interesting to see what happens especially as a third park would involve more infrastructure than the studios park did as it can’t be built to use the existing facilities of DLP and the railway line etc. I’m guessing you’d need a disneysea style transformation at the resort to put some form of transport link from the entrance complex and hotels to the third park site

It's not a deadline for construction but it's not just "showing they have a design ready"; maybe the idea behind my translation was not clear. I'm not too familiar with French law regarding construction, but my understanding is that this deadline is to submit the detailed plan, including ground plan and land use to authorities (basically: requesting permits), which is the first phase before actual construction. It's a strong commitment, not just a design.

@MansionButler84 : Yeah, no monetary sum indeed. But your churro better attracts millions more guests per year then :D

Given the apparent quality of DLP snacks, I think it would...

There are other things to see in Europe. I'd only allot a day or two to Disney. Depending on your plans, we've done the bus tour of Paris from Disney and it hit most of the highlights, but there is so much more to see that can't be done in a day.

I was in Paris for 5 days and could have easily spent 2 more weeks there and still not see everything I wanted to see. And that's just in Paris itself; not counting the potential for day trips outside the city to places like Versailles.

I spent a full day at the Louvre.
