Just found what seems to be early concept arts for the lake show by Anthony Archer!
He also worked on Paint the Night and the early concept for Disney Dreams for which Disney already had projections on Main Street in mind:

I wonder how similar to the track layout of Splash Mountain this will be.

There have been zero hints that this has any similarities to Splash Mountain other than it has a drop in a rock facade. The show building is a completely different shape and size.
Don’t love the idea of a show exclusively populated by live action.
