Transformative Multi-Year Expansion Announced for WDS Paris

The entire area from Studio 1 to and around the lake will be very green. “Garden like”. Expect some ODV, some flat rides and a pathway linking with TSL. Long term it should link east into the Avengers area and future attractions.
What are your personal thoughts on the plans so far? I'm very curious what you think about it! And is that rumour of the possibility for the Mermaid dark ride in this area of the park true?

Mixed. Not a fan of cloning something that was shoehorned into a 1988 EPCOT Center attraction and I’ll be happier if Rise is 100% go again - the expansion needs both areas as a bare minimum. Gardens or no, the walk from Studio 1 to the lake will be rather barren for a theme park until the MA / Reign of Fire area is eventually developed. Flat ride (s) could be a good break up of this if done right. After phase one the park will still need more of course too. Attractions in the higher capacity range.

I am a fan of the aims of the project as a whole. This park needs more floorspace, more physical room to put people. The lake should finally add a photogenic, proper water feature to the park (the only Disney park without one) plus a suitable lake night show should enable the park to not only stay open later more often but also retain guests. The proposed main attractions so far present fully themed environments too - thus far something only seen in this park around Rat.

As someone who remembers this park when it was 2 months old, I am looking forward to seeing the walls come down.

Interesting. My impression of this art and the plans generally is that they are a massive improvement for a park that opened not only minimally-themed, but quite ugly in many parts. That said, I wish they kept the studios theme a little clearer rather than more or less going down the DLP Park #2 route. For example, I don't quite get the art nouveau theming instead of something inspired by classic Hollywood or something to do with the movies rather than something that would look nice in a garden setting. Unless, of course, there is a connection we don't know yet.

Why are you asking him about the mermaid ride ? He always told us he knew nothing on DLP's current projects... Your only DLP insider is probably gone for good, he overracted and certainly misinterpreted what @marni1971 wanted to say, that's dumb.

I get the impression they wanted to define an entirely new aesthetic to those Gardens. Hollywood is meant to be more realistic, those gardens are the bond between reality and fantasy, Art Nouveau has already been used IRL, toonish norwegian architecture and batuuan architecture not so much...

Sorry, I dont hold tabs on everyones grudges and what someone does or does not know. I just know Ive always trusted Marni’s judgement and insider info. My mistake.

Trust me. You don’t want the appearance of a real studios canteen.
Yes, hopefully the 'real studios' theme is dead and buried! I can see the approach of going to lands built around specific movies for the park, even if I'm not a big fan on single-IP lands. I am kind of curious where this gardens area fits in, though, as the choice of architecture looks fairly random, unless there's something we don't know about its theming.

To be honest, though, I am one of the few who seem to think the studios theme still works at DHS using 'the Hollywood that never was' as a connective tissue between whatever IP lands and attractions they choose to put in, so I wouldn't mind something similar in Paris.

Shame something like Paradise Pier couldn't have gone straight across the lake... something more generic rather than something specific like frozen may age better compared to a franchise that will eventually be overtaken by a new Disney movie to cause kids and families to go into meltdown. Perfect way to shoehorn in some small pier like flat rides too. Does Studio's Paris even have Toy Story Midway Mania?

I agree, I think having an old Hollywood theme entrance leading to movie lands is a good concept for a park IMO

It will be interesting to see why they chose art neuveu as a theme for the restaurant I would have thought art deco was more in keeping with the studios, maybe it will be something to do with early French cinema like georges melles ?
