Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

This is absolutely nuts. People are waiting over four hours for a small, naked, lightly-themed coaster because it has Disney branding. You want to wait three hours for FoP on opening day? I wouldn’t do it, but I completely understand the choice. But this?

This is the kind of fanatical “brand loyalty” that ensures that even when competition forces WDW to invest in the parks, execs know they can nix the door coaster and the RSR clone and the Indy ride and build a small bare coaster and a significantly worse version of Mater’s. They can even nix any and all air-conditioned structures. Because guests will form 270 minute lines for Slinky Dog Dash.
I wonder how many in today's (and yesterday's) crowd are APs, though. APs who are very hungry for something new so when it does finally come it's overhyped. There's no scientific evidence behind this hypothesis, but I have the feeling that the level of excitement for TSL is inversely proportional to the distance you live from WDW.

Its new stuff to do in a park that is severely lacking content. How many times has Disney trotted out the phrase 'This is multi year transformation of the park', and this is the first piece of that. Maybe Disney shouldn't of advertised as heavily one of the lobby's for Galaxy Edge.

Yesterday's may have included some very lucky Silver passholders. Today, Gold and up only.

That should still account for many many many APs. I don't know how popular the silver AP is but with Gold not being that much more some may even choose to upgrade to have access.

That would make WDW very happy, part of the reasoning for shutting out Silver from passholder previews also. I can do without visiting in the Summer, thank you. One, my work schedule doesn't allow it. And two, even if it did, they can have the heat, humidity, summer thunderstorms, and crowds. I'm waiting until late Fall/Holidays (early December).

Honestly at this point... if I was Disney I would do the same... people are lemmings who eat the cheap bad for you crap up...

Why invest in more expensive produce when people don’t seem to care what they do so long as it’s new.

If we want change it has to start with our wallets.

Yes, if you don't like what other people like or would do, call them fanatics and lemmings. Excellent points!

My guess is that DHS during SWGE might be slightly better than this, only because TSL and Mickey (plus maybe the Cars show and a replacement for Mermaid or Beast if that happens too) could draw people away from the land. It’s still going to be absolute hell, but at least there will be more to do at the park than there is today.

It's just as likely the new and renewed attractions would make things worse as they draw even more people into the park.

Though, they'd be a help once they shut down the park completely at capacity. ;)

Shortest lived 'land'/neighborhood ever? Who has done the research? :)

I'd give that to Muppets Courtyard. Technically it's part of Grand Avenue now but if you ask me as soon as you step into the area with the Miss Piggy Fountain, Muppets 3D, and PizzaRizzo you're in Muppets Courtyard. It still looks like one even if not technically named that anymore

@lentesta said that he could back into Epcot and MK's numbers but called into question DHS's. Simply put, there needed to be more attrition reflected in DHS's number in order for DAK's numbers to be legit. Disney has input in those numbers.

Some inconsistencies here:

1. I thought TEA's numbers couldn't be trusted because Disney doesn't release numbers, but now we're not supposed to trust TEA's numbers precisely because Disney has input into them?
2. If Disney cooks the numbers to make themselves look good, then why did TEA's numbers in 2016 show them with an attendance decline?

Maybe we can exclude that one as a 'placeholder' :)
