Nah. Guarantee that's stroller parking.
That it is.
DLP's speedway is more popular but doesn't really fit into Discoveryland with its neon-style..
Really?

Because people are already talking about how lackluster the land is with an off-the-shelf coaster and a spinner. Now you want a gussied-up off-the-shelf pirate swing that belongs at Six Flags Sheboygen to add to the mix?

Ok am I the only one who is getting tired of hearing SDD described as "off the shelf"?

Off the shelf: not designed or made to order but taken from existing stock or supplies.

There is nothing about SDD that is "off the shelf". The track was designed specifically for the park and not a existing track layout. The land and station were specifically constructed for the ride, ie not using the same facilities as a previous coaster. And the trains are one of a kind designed specifically for this coaster.

Now this type of coaster (Mack Family Powered Launch) is already a proven technology but by no means does that make it a "off the shelf" ride. If you say it does then that also means that every other roller coaster on property, including the actual "off the shelf" coaster (Barnstormer, albeit with custom trains) Would then have to be classified as off the shelf.

Agreed. SDD looks great! Can't wait to see it and ride it.

Judging by this image do you think that there is enough space for a speedway? If the Tomorrowland Speedway were to be copied here it would occupy 75% of the land.
Sorry my bad. I didn't have a clear view of Discoveryland. But again it's the least likely one to go.

Not in the slightest - and it’d be a liability nightmare to put it wholly under the coaster because of falling pocket fodder and cameras. I’m actually arguing that *neither* a speedway or a pirate ship (nor a parachute drop) is needed at all. The land is filled out well already.

They could've planned something inventive by having the rides go over, under, inside, behind, etc. one another to utilize the space well. Hey I wish Walt had thought of that over 60 years ago when he built the original Autopia in DL... oh wait.

That area always amazes me by how much is truly squeezed in that area. People always say that Autopia is a wasted attraction but I kinda like just taking a drive, its kinda relaxing.

Speaking of 60 years ago could you imagine the backlash if Disney opened a land looking like this today.

And how dumb we've become! So many ways to get run over and die in that picture and yet somehow people survived a day at Disneyland.

I assume all of the strollers are parked just out of view?

If you designed the coaster and the Speedway together I think it's more than reasonable that both could have existed on a slightly larger footprint.

The original Autopia in DL occupys HUGE amounts of space. There isn't a large footprint in this area for the Speedway to occupy. Do you think it's a smart idea to have both a speedway and rollercoaster interacting with each other in such a small area? Too much and unnecessary congestion.

The official Disney Parks YouTube channel just released a video focusing on the land's nighttime lighting and I have to say it all looks way better than I expected.

1) I'm not sure how much these A/V packages are, but it seems very impressive - there's a lot of it, and a lot is sync'd to music and motion. So, would this explain SOME of the big budget of the land? Most lands/rides to date haven't included such schnazzy effects.
2) How will this lighting play during the day? Maybe Saucers will be interesting since the roof seems large enough to block a lot of sunlight. Slink may lose a lot which is a shame, the lighting seems to really enhance "your average family coaster"
