I would imagine that there are a lot of popular fan-fave rides that would lose their status if it was always a three hour wait. Would you wait 3 hours for HM or PotC?

With respect, I'm really not sure what to tell you if you can't see why HM/PotC would be much more worth a 3 hour wait than SDD.

I would absolutely be more willing to wait 3 hours for a deeply immersive long-form dark ride with some of WED's greatest work than a basically bare-bones 60 second family coaster in the sun. Also, regardless of the wait time, the ride at the end of the wait for PotC or HM would still be a fleshed-out masterpiece and would still be a fan favorite. The ride at the end of the wait for SDD is anything but.

"Standing in line and your phone battery is running low? No problem, with Disney's Magical Phone Rechargers©!!! For a nominal fee, you can charge your phone while waiting to ride some of our most popular attractions!! When you're done, simply exchange it for another battery for your next attraction queue! (Prices start at $9.99 for a single use, or you can purchase the all-day MAGICAL charging option for $49.99 (plus tax). Length-of-stay charging options not yet available."
Might as well create solar powered chargers for people waiting 3 hours in the sun to ride Slinky Dog Dash.

These already exist, may not be the best deal, but I know many that use them. Fuel Rods

Indeed. As another example, I’ve waited 85 minutes for Splash Mountain. It’s not ideal; I’d rather walk-on; but I still feel like it was worth the wait that day. I would never wait that long for 7DMT.

This is sure a lot of hoopla for an off the shelf whip ride and a family coaster. Imagine if they had included one more E ticket attraction to make a robust land.
disney and universal and any other company for that matter will always advertise the new shiny toy . they re not gonna invest millions of dollars into a new land and not hype it up

My point was that you have to compare apples to apples and you can't do that with a ride that's a walk-on v. a ride that has a lengthy queue.

So, saying that "of course people liked it, there was no queue" isn't a fair evaluation of the ride. There are a lot of mediocre rides people would suddenly ride if there was no wait, and a lot of really good rides that people will pass over due to the lengthy wait.

If one were to compare SDD and 7DMT and BTM against each other, you have to presume all things being equal, such as, would you go on and enjoy the ride if there was no wait? How about a 30 minute wait? An hour? Two hours? And so on.

Mater's ride system isn't off-the-shelf. It's a Disney original. For all you Easterners who haven't ridden Mater's, I can tell you it's an extremely fun ride, as long as A. S. S. doesn't tone the ride motion down.

Parents with strollers are going to bring their tiny tots into the land, park their strollers, then discover both new rides have height requirements. Then they can repack their babies and huff and puff their way to guest services to say they're not having a magical time.

One of the characters in Toy Story is RC, which is -- wait for it -- a remote controlled race car.

:) ok but it why not just copy the RC Racer? Then the land would have 1 kiddie ride, 2 family rides and 1 thrill ride which, if you ask me, is a perfect composition.

Actually the speedway in MK is pretty popular.

It's the only one. TDL and HKDL have already gotten rid of their speedways, SDL didn't even open with a speedway and even MK is probably going to remodel it to fit with Tron. The 2 last original speedways that will be left by the time 2020 rolls around, assumimg of course that nothing changes, will be in DL and DLP. And they aren't in a good state too.

Disneyland's speedway takes up huge amounts of space that could definitely be used for something else. When I visited in April it had the lowest wait times of any TL attraction (even Orbitron had higher waits). DLP's speedway is more popular but doesn't really fit into Discoveryland with its neon-style (but again Discoveryland has been pretty much destroyed in recent years but this really feels out of place). This one will probably be the last one to go.

Which one do you consider a kiddie ride? The Mater ride system is a family thrill ride with a height requirement. Slinky is a family coaster with a height requirement. TSM is a family ride. As a big fan of Mater's I can say it's an extremely fun flat ride for anyone over 32" tall.

Because people are already talking about how lackluster the land is with an off-the-shelf coaster and a spinner. Now you want a gussied-up off-the-shelf pirate swing that belongs at Six Flags Sheboygen to add to the mix?
