You mention the queues, at least from the aerial photos they seem rather small for both attractions considering the expected demand. Unless they are planning on limiting the number of people entering TSL to prevent overcrowding.
They could do something similar to Pandora - and just keep people out. Although there appears to be a good amount of potential overflow queue on that entrance area. And then of course they could also use Pixar Place.

Nice pics!

How long before the Slinky queue gets some umbrellas to provide shade for the outdoor portion? I'm surprised how much of it is completely exposed to the elements, and we know there's ALWAYS going to be a line in that queue. Really no excuse for building it like that.

Indeed, the entire land looks like it's going to be pretty exposed. There's greenery, but almost all of it is at the periphery and will offer little shade to people walking around. And the (overly)wide paths aren't going to help either.
Agree it is surprising to see the queue being largely outdoors. Heat and rain are going to cause a lot of operational issues this summer. Anyone would think they have never done this before! ;)

Imagineers should have looked at the queue for Splash. During the pre FP days you could fit 2 hours worth of wait in there, and you knew exactly how much time you had left, based on where you were in the queue. Good times.

That was my only issue with the ride, most of the que is in the sun. Which means when it rains you will get soaked as well. When I was out there today it was 90 humidity was moderate, so come July/August, yeah it'll be tough
And made all the worse by the target being families with younger children.

They went to huge lengths to try and minimize this issue with Dumbo, why not here?

No worry about rain, it will probably shutdown, so they will clear the queue.

Toy Story land at every other park has been meh.. I see no difference with this one. Let's be happy TSM is part of this land and has a large indoor quoue. TSL will only be nuts until SWL and MRR opens. It will bring people but I doubt its anything like Pandora.

Yes, true. At least with Seven Dwarf outside queue they have fans and trees to help. This already looks hot. :grumpy:

Great point on the Dumbo queue, and all the more reason it's so disappointing that the queues for this land's two new attractions are just partially covered outdoor switchbacks.

Also, I think this was mentioned before but it bears repeating - seems a shame that for a land filled with colorful play objects (wood blocks, Tinker Toy, K'NEX, etc.) there's no where for kids to play. A playground made out of a bunch of "extra" toy pieces would have been a nice minor addition. I'm not usually an advocate for putting play grounds in the parks, but I know parents appreciate them and, done correctly, they can be really nice complements to a land (see The Boneyard in AK and Camp Jurassic at IoA). It could have worked perfectly for TSL (thematically and operationally), but alas...

I think people need to stop thinking about this as a “land.” That term sets unrealistic expectations and gives the area too much credit. It’s filler, just like every other TSL, a way to satisfy a perceived requirement with as little effort and money as possible. Execs knew MGM needed a redo and SWL alone wouldn’t cut it, but they didn’t want to budget for Pixar Land or Indy Land, so they cut-and-pasted the same garbage they used in other parks that needed quick, cheap capacity. They are relying heavily upon brand loyalty to prevent guests from admitting what TSL is.

Charitably, TSL is a holding pen and an expansion pad for SWL. Less charitably, it’s a field with a pair of Six Flags rides.

Yes an indoor playground like at Dumbo would have been great for families, along with a proper indoor quick service and gift shop. As it is now, there is nowhere to go when the rain and heat arrives.

You don't like Toy Story Land. We get it.

Well the bright side is, that at least you're not enclosed trapped in a poorly ventilated lightning magnet pod hanging 25-35 feet above the ground crawling along a perilous wind susceptible steel cable at 7 MPH.

I think the frustrating thing for many will be that it is very close to being an actual land. If you factor in Toy Story Mania, and the two supporting rides, it can be argued it has enough in terms of rides. But what it lacks is a proper restaurant, gift shop and for a land aimed at kids, a proper indoor meet & greet and playground.
