Very loose ballpark figure, but TSL should have a Tower of Terror, a Horizons and a Forbidden Journey for what it's costing.
Not trying to poke the bear here, but is it really realistic to compare costs for items built years ago in a totally different price structure and world to what can or cannot be built now?

I get folks feel we are not getting what we can for $$$ spent. I have no idea why Disney $$$ are so high, compared to some parks adding rides. My gut says some don't know all the added infrastructure and items that were thrown in as part of cost.

Just saying I am not sure you can say what was spent NOW on TSL is equivalent to the quality and quantity paid THEN for those other rides.

The infrastructure should not be some huge surprise. There is a similar coaster that is contemporaneous to Slinky Dog Dash that is less than half the cost. That should be telling enough.

But is it? I am not in ride design, I am in engineering, in a manufacturing area, and I know how costs have escalated due to technology and requirements on power and such. I also know how expensive it gets to take and existing older out of date structure, and have to add in cost to get it up to date to handle what new technology and requirements are.

I have no idea of if this is the case or not, but I cannot believe it is same cost as rides that were put in years and years ago. Especially to an area that has not been updated in years to boot.

Again, not saying Disney could have spent more, but I don't see comparing costs of past rides to current spend as an equivalent.

That’s why I’m asking about comparing to another coaster also set to open in Spring 2018.

Martin, maybe you can shed some light on this, but why have the recent projects been so expensive for Disney to build? Is it lack of laborer's so they have to pay them more (knowing there is a shortage of workers in Orlando)? Customization's that are crazy expensive?

If they aren't cheaping out here, who exactly is to blame? WDI for not designing something better?
WDI have become synonymous with not being best value for money. It's an acknowledged problem that's only recently been attempted to be turned around. Plus they have the virtual monopoly on Disney parks.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge but isn't WDI a part of the Walt Disney umbrella? So they would naturally have a monopoly on Disney Parks? Or are you implying maybe they should allow a third party to enter the frey?
