Am I stil in the minority in call muppets an "attraction" or at best a "show" and not a ride?
Sometimes thing create their own language. It has become common for any attraction presented by Disney to be referred to as a ride. That prevents people from having to burden our minds with complicated words like shows or attractions. I can understand the last one... so many syllables.

Half of the rides? No. We're getting about the same amount. Maybe a net gain of one. We've lost Lights Motors Action and the Backlot Tour. Original MGM arguably had less actual rides. The problem is we need more than what we're getting. Alien Swirling Saucers and Slinky Dog are fine but the park needs some more dark rides.

I've said before I'd prefer Cars Land, Monsters Inc, Indy but I still don't see TSL as a problem. I get people don't like the idea and as you said it's subjective.
To much is being made of TSL. Once SWL is open TSL will only be a pathway to SWL. More like peripheral scenery.

Can't imagine that being the whole thing considering there are only 6 seats in the picture. If so, what a capacity problem.

They released a video of the ride a while back and I counted four carts, plus the head and tail, which has two more seats. So there's probably second truck around or coming with an additional three carts. EDIT: Looks like, if the video's right, there'll be 18 people on a train.

I was wondering the same thing. This can't be the entire vehicle, can it?
There must be more to it. It is a slinky dog. They are known for being rather long:hilarious:

Looking at this concept art I took from "Inside The Magic" the ride vehicle seems a decent length. My guess is there are more pieces!!

From what I read here, sprinkled with new thoughts, here's a list of possible reasons for the high TSL budget. This can either be fun, or depressing. But lets have at it:
  • Cleverly moving budgets/capx: Money that has been put into TSL's budget is actually being used in SWGE, and/or possibly other areas of the park
  • Purposefully reporting inflated budgets to generate more interest (PR, Wall Street, discussion, visitation)
  • Labor costs are higher (supply and demand)
  • Materials and tech is better/newer than expected
  • A lot more non-working dollars:
    • Took a lot in infrastructure and prep, ie re-channeling canals, underground work, etc.
    • Covering the garage with a "fence", reorientating TSMWM, demo'ing buildings for new land entrance
  • WDI is a monopoly in regards to vendor management/selection/bidding

Filming Slinky Dog’s arrival at Hollywood Studios. Note Buzz Lightyear on the bridge.

I don't believe the budget has ever been reported, we are getting it from insiders.
