:cautious:

How would this help with those crowds if Pandora didn't put a dent in wait times for 7DMT?

Kind of a different demographic.

It is funny how some declare the other parks are becoming increasingly like the MK and then claim it won't make a dimes worth of difference on park ops. That is illogical.

I would agree with others that the DHS "makeover" is underwhelming -- it definitely needs another land that is an addition -- but we should also consider the Star Wars fireworks and the movie projection show as additions. Those are certainly net plusses IMHO. I wish they would bring back a daytime parade as well. they also added the Pixar music show.

If they would put in some regular shows in the flex theater and something in the Fantasmic theater during the day, I'd feel better about the current state of the park.

I'm just hoping that there is really consideration of an IJ land and it goes in DHS, not DAK. That would really round stuff out if it gets added to this park.

Very loose ballpark figure, but TSL should have a Tower of Terror, a Horizons and a Forbidden Journey for what it's costing.
If it is costing that much, and I believe you when you say it is, I just have to think that either there is something screwy about their accounting of things (like they are rolling a lot more into it than we know) or there is going to be more themeing that simply isn't showing up in the artwork and will shock us all. Otherwise, what the heck!? Seriously, that is just crazy and makes no sense to me.

I can't wait to ride Slinky!!!!! His face is super adorable, makes me so happy just looking at it :)
Same here! I mean, I am frustrated about what we're learning about the budget and what could have been and what not, but I'm really excited about riding this and especially can't wait to ride it with my 4 year old nephew. He is gonna go nuts when he sees this. :joyfull:

From what I read here, sprinkled with new thoughts, here's a list of possible reasons for the high TSL budget. This can either be fun, or depressing. But lets have at it:
  • Cleverly moving budgets/capx: Money that has been put into TSL's budget is actually being used in SWGE, and/or possibly other areas of the park
  • Purposefully reporting inflated budgets to generate more interest (PR, Wall Street, discussion, visitation)
  • Labor costs are higher (supply and demand)
  • Materials and tech is better/newer than expected
  • A lot more non-working dollars:
    • Took a lot in infrastructure and prep, ie re-channeling canals, underground work, etc.
    • Covering the garage with a "fence", reorientating TSMWM, demo'ing buildings for new land entrance
  • WDI is a monopoly in regards to vendor management/selection/bidding
Yah, I have a feeling there is some "creative accounting" going on here. It's also possible that they are rolling in costs that were related to developing other ideas that ended up being dropped for TSL, whether they were actually intended for that location or not. Accounting can be more of an art than a science.

Agree with everything you said. A proper, full size Indy land would take away any anxiety I have with this park.

Is that video for promo now or later? Would be weird if they change the name and in the video is a huge "Disney's Hollywood Studios" sign front and center.

In the Parks
No
Am I the only one who thinks the drops/banks on this coaster look less family-friendly than they made them look in the previews? I mean, I don't have kids but I wonder if this really will be as family friendly as it has been billed.

When TSL opens, its three rides will be matched by ToT, RnRC, Star Tours, and Muppets. So not quite half, but 43%.

And again... this is their fix. The thing that has been needed since MGM opened. WDW feels TSL plus SWL makes MGM a complete park. And you won't GET more than we're getting for quite a while because, hey!, MGM is fixed. And when, in the future, you DO get more, it will come from the same mindset that built TSL.

Had Disney simply stuck SWL onto MGM as it existed five years ago, the result would be better than what we are getting.
On what planet is Muppet*Vision a ride?
