Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

True, but unlike MK these don't have to be permanent. If they did really want to expand there these buildings could be relocated.
But all that would do is create another spot backstage that is useless....I would rather them spend the millions it would cost bldg a new building, moving all those cast and offices, and tearing down the old one into a new attraction instead.

They have plenty of space in all of that cleared land where the new surface parking is going. They also have a lot of land across the street that has been rumored for a CM Parking garage with a walkover bridge. Things can be moved.

So far, yes. They'd have to look at tearing out another section of the park to do it. They kind of painted themselves into a corner, as you can see that TSL will be right next to the CM parking deck back there.

You can see the aerial view of what's been cleared here:

While I love Toy Story, I'd much rather have a Pixar Land with attractions for Monsters Inc and the Incredibles (especially since it's getting a sequel).

Interesting to compare the videos of what's going on at DL and DHS. DL has to get the railroad and ROA, DHS has to get TSL up and running

If only they would get their butts moving. There's no reason that land couldn't be finished by sometime next year. Could've been this year if they started right after the announcement.
Oh, I know. Big announcement then nothing. No work at all. Then the cuts started to come in and pretty much destroyed what could have been a pretty cool land. Now, I wish they would rethink what they are doing and go with a more general Pixar Place Land. A lot of members have listed excellent IP's (since that's what direction Iger wants the parks to go). Good examples, Monsters, The Incredibles, Up, Toy Story, Cars and so on.

That building is the equivalent of the tunnels under MK, it is full of offices and Cast Members involved in the operation of the park. It isn't just sitting there empty.

That's what I thought too. A lot of those buildings look occupied from the aerial views. It would be cool if they could move out of there and give us a complete Pixar Land, but that's probably 10 years away, if ever.

From what I'm seeing on Facebook posts, it looks like all the work is being done on the land where SWL will be and TSland has come to a dead halt and nothings going on there.
Maybe they have decided that SW will be 1st? Is only one construction crew allowed to work at a time?

Going a different direction with Toy Story land would be fine with me but I just can't get with the whole Pixar Land idea. There'd be no immersion or cohesion with all those different IPs being right next to one another. It would truly be IPs for the sake of IPs. I'd much rather see those IPs more strategically placed throughout the parks in areas that make sense. Plus, you would think that Disney would want people to start thinking of Disney and Pixar as one and the same.

EDIT: Replaced "stop thinking" with "start thinking" in the last sentence.

What would you want in there instead? CarsLand?

Really, I would think that it would be massively beneficial for people to understand that Disney and Pixar are now one and the same. If one loves Disney and one loves Pixar, it is a perfect marriage. Nothing but a positive as far as I can tell.

My mistake. Typographical error. I completely agree with you.

Eh, the way I envision one it could go one of two ways, both I think would work fine. Either it could keep the Emeryville Pixar Studio theme but overrun by the characters as it is now, which could be cool, or simply a collection of immersive but small mini-lands for each property, just al next to each other and together to make it a Pixar area.

If work has stopped it happened very recently because all the recent aerials we have seen show active work going on.
