Nobody said you said anything about box office. That is the different motivation you just keep ignoring. Fantasyland was always going to have a castle, that is not at all the same as including a castle only to specifically promote Sleeping Beauty. Even then, most of the park content had nothing to do with any films versus now where the mandate is that a new attraction must be related to a franchise.

I guess that I have to end this discussion because I can no longer follow your point. It seems to me to be irrelevant. Of course there was always going to be a castle. No one is arguing that... but, they could have called it any number of things like King Henry the VIII castle. But they didn't they named it after a Disney character in a Disney movie. That is the connection. They could have named any building after any number of people, places or things, but, they didn't, they named almost all of it after movies or TV shows already in existence or soon to be. That is my only point. I wonder what the working name for the castle was? Do you know? Was it just... The Castle?

I already said what the name of the castle was, it was Fantasyland Castle. That right there completely kills your point that nothing has changed. The rules today are that the project must start with the franchise.

For me it's the experience of going in the "car", watching retro Sci-Fi clips and drinking a great milkshake. Throw in a nice steak and some onion rings and you've got yourself a winner in my book.

I love the atmosphere at the Sci-Fi, but when I had lunch there like 5 years ago, the food was AWFUL. I had pork ribs and they were like rubber! Now I HAVE heard that the menu has changed and improved. If so, I'll certainly visit it again. It is a fun place.

Ate at Sci-fi for the first time in Nov. Was very impressed with the whole thing. Theme and cast were wonderful. I agree that the food was no better than an Applebee's or equivalent, we had DDP so I don't know what the price was. However I feel like that is the current state of Disney Dinning, meh food for crazy prices, that's why in my opinion Sci-Fi and BOG stand out because in a world of Meh food they get the service and theme right.

A bit of a stretch but OK, because their working name was Fantasyland Castle doesn't mean that they didn't always intend to link it to something else when it opened, but, so what.. does it really matter? That fact that has been named Sleeping Beauty Castle since the day that Disneyland opened up... kinda says just the opposite.

So far, yes. They'd have to look at tearing out another section of the park to do it. They kind of painted themselves into a corner, as you can see that TSL will be right next to the CM parking deck back there.

The parking deck could be removed in the future. It's possible they only need it for now, but it might be expendable once additional other parking gets built for DHS.

Fun fact Sleeping Beauty and Snow White is the same tale adapted for two different markets by the Grimms. In the original tale of Sleeping Beauty there are 7 protective fairies which was part of there myths.

Actually, the original tale was from Charles Perrault and the Grimm brothers adapted the tale from him. In fact, tales similar to Sleeping Beauty have been documented since the 14th century; possibly earlier through oral traditions. A lot of the documentation is French-based.

Oh, I see you thought the second question was an implication of something. Sorry, it was just curiosity of that the working title was. I was not trying, at the time, to establish any connection to anything. I can see where I didn't make myself very clear. As far as synergy is concerned where the connection came from, either within or without it/they still had a strong connection. So look at that anyway you want... I see it as a connection and that last sentence you stated makes no sense at all. The content didn't change because of the film-based names, you really believe that? How did they end up having that connection then? And why bother naming it anything other then Fantasyland Castle, what possible benefit would there be to calling it Sleeping Beauty Castle, just for no reason.

I actually did not know that and is fascinating to learn! I feel like that could make an interesting fairy tale in of itself: A king obsessed with fairytales and the tales of the past. A new ride/show mayhaps?

In an attempt to get back on topic...

I have an interesting point (or question really) that I didn't really think about until earlier today. If you look at the concept art for Slinky, you notice all the plants and grass are human sized. I think this might be a factor into why it looks kind of awkward, the fact that where you are riding through doesn't seem to fit the scale.

Do any insiders on the plans know if this is just incorrect artistic representation and we will infact be riding more through the giant "grass"? If so, I think the coaster might turn out a bit better than we expect. But at the same time, with all the on ride sets that were cut, it seems weird that they would spend a lot of money to try and get all the big grass to make it look right.
