Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Yep it's not happening at this point in time.
Sigh. Back like two years ago I had just started on these forums and the dream of a Monstropolis was alive and well. These were my ideas for the land. What could have been.
Hey everybody, I've been reading these forums for a while and this is my first post here. Anyway, I think it'd be awesome if a Monsters Inc. Land would be separated by two parts: A Monstropolis City Area and a Monsters University Area. In the city-area, you can have the scare factory where the long-awaited door coaster e-ticket could be. Then maybe a restaurant (full or quick service) in the employee cafeteria featuring an AA Roz. Also this could be an opportunity to move the laugh floor over to a more fitting location than tomorrowland. Then in the MU area, maybe a scare class interactive show where selected guests can learn to be scarers. Another attraction could be a dark ride taking you through the MU movie similar to the little mermaid in MK. These are just my ideas, but Hopefully they'll at least choose monsters inc. over cars as the second Pixar movie to get a land at DHS.

Also, I've been meaning to post this, but after going to WDW this past weekend I really think the argument of how they wouldn't do a Pixar land because they want us to view it all as one Disney company, not two, doesn't hold much weight. In several stores I went in (Mouse Gear, the ones along Hollywood Blvd, etc), I noticed how merchandise was divided up into categories including Star Wars, Princesses, and Pixar. If they give Pixar their own shelves instead of mixing it in with other stuff (or at least more so), then they do know there's a difference, and people do too, for buying merch.

Plus, there's the Disney-Pixar Short Film Festival show at Epcot. If there really was no difference, it would just be the Disney short film festival. Also there wouldn't be a preshow that was divided distinctly into two parts for the two companies. And this is a relatively new show, too, unlike something like Pixar Place which could be chalked up to it being older.

tl;dr- The idea that Disney doesn't think a Pixar Land would make sense because it is all one company I think isn't truly that real of a factor.

Agreed. This is also backed by there being a lot of Pixar rides put together in an area in a sort of Pixar Place style concept in Disney Studios Paris, and some have speculated Pixar becoming the theme of one of the main sections/lands in the overhaul of that park.

I don't neccesarily want to debate this again, but I'm willing to, and since you brought it up, I suppose I can ask you this. And I'll ask you only this for now. Perhaps as a new, more solid starting point for discussion.

What is that difference?

It was planned for the back of the park until Star Wars moved there less than a year ago.
So sad....why can't it go in the front of the park by IJ and shops? Was there something special about that spot?

I can't imagine that they're going to keep the front part of the park with Indiana Jones and all of this restaurant as it is. It's so outdated and really need some work!

So as it stands, is Monstropolis/any variation of what was initially coming completely scrapped? I just want to be sure, i'm still a bit in denial:cry::(

So far, yes. They'd have to look at tearing out another section of the park to do it. They kind of painted themselves into a corner, as you can see that TSL will be right next to the CM parking deck back there.

You can see the aerial view of what's been cleared here:

While I love Toy Story, I'd much rather have a Pixar Land with attractions for Monsters Inc and the Incredibles (especially since it's getting a sequel).

Animation has a large area that can be cleared for expansion. The animation building(s) take up a lot of backstage space.
