Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

I hope, if there has been significant changes to TSL, that something better rises out of the ashes. A while ago, I would've said: "No way." (To Disney actually making something better). But, with all these rumored developments, it's hard to ignore the hope that some level of competency has been restored at TWDC.

Shoved around to other areas of the same project. They want more bag for their buck than just 2 medium capacity rides.
I'm with @Chef Kronk, the land is pretty barren outside the two new attractions, Slinky, and the Alien Saucers thing, could that mean they're adding more attractions at the expense of a smaller Slinky? I don't know how much worse Slinky could get, but this is Disney we're talking about lol

The issue hasn't been competency, it's been prioritization. Shangai, MM+, DCA 2.0, the Dream, and the Fantasy are done. That means they can get back to the stuff we all find sexy.

Well, whatever it's been, I'm glad that things appear to be moving in a better direction for WDW.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a rumor that all the parts for, say the coaster, were already constructed and possibly over here and could be easily put together since, at the time, TSL in Shanghai was not happening (but now is). And.. is Shangai going to be a clone of DHS' version?

I don't know if you're wrong or not, but I read through this whole thread and don't remember anyone mentioning that the parts were already constructed.

If I were to have to choose I'd much rather them cut the saucers than slinky. If they cut slinky than what will they market as the headliner attraction of the land? Also with these changes do they still expect to have it all complete by 2018? They really need it even earlier though with GMR expected to close next year.

The things we have to consider when looking at potential changes are: 1) Price, 2) Space, and 3) Ease of Implementation. With that said, I think in the event of a third attraction being added (he says with absolutely no knowledge, just speculation) I think that it would be the Parachute Drop.

Here's why: they'll want to bring a clone in to keep costs down. RC Racer (coaster) and Slinky Dog Spin (same theme) are redundant, so this is the only Toy Story attraction left that already exists elsewhere and would add something to the area. It also takes up a (relatively small) footprint, and would partially make up for a loss of theming that could come from further dumbing down of the coaster.

I can't think of what else they could do that would solve the problems they have (too much money for too little capacity), and if I'm not mistaken, Parachute Drop is the most popular attraction within the Playlands.

The only problem I can think of is that of sight lines, particularly those coming from Star Wars Land. Then again, there are ways to get around that (elevation changes, strategic facade work, etc.), and placing the attraction on the right side of the land would help, provided it doesn't interfere with GMR sight lines.

Oh boy...I hope not. Every TSPL makes my eyes bleed.
