Toy Story Character Meals...Enough is Enough Already!!

Ok, Disney...what do we need to do to get a Toy Story Character meal? Our next trip is booked, and all my DS6 and DS3 keep asking is to eat with Buzz and Woody. There have been many threads about why can't Disney have a character meal that is more "current" and boy friendly -- all they would need to do is add Buzz, Woody, Jessie and a few Army guys to the Playhouse Disney Meal in the DHS -- and I would be very happy and my kids too. Or, turn Pizza Planet in DHS into a character Pizza meal. Enough is Enough Disney...time to give us what we want. I know there is some planning and cost that goes into this, but not asking for a major attraction or park expansion around this -- just a new character meal. Heck, you cannot walk in a store without seeing Toy Story merchandise anywhere in the US right now...not sure why Disney cannot jump on this request. Should be easier now that the Toy Story Street Bash or whatever it was called is no longer in DHS.

Anyone else feel the same?

I don't have boys but I see where you are coming from.
However, if Pizza Planet was turned into a character meal, it would need a lot of work done. I think that place is disgusting.

I agree on Pizza Planet, but my kids love it. Even though not much to it, they really feel like they are Pizza Planet and part of the movie.

Also, love the idea of a Pirate meal in MK. Could easily add something to El Pirate Y el Perico restaurant -- maybe would be used much more regularly especially since only opened seasonally. Captain Jack, Capt. Hook and the gang....love it.

Wellll, IMO the problem would be where they went.. I seriously doubt Disney is going to nix the Playhouse Disney characters for Toy Story - didn't they just change them up, anyway?

And wow, Pizza Planet.. the thought is definitely there (obviously) but that dining experience is so sub-par compared to the rest of Disney dining.

Negative Nelly over here. Meh.

I remember attending a Walt Disney Co. annual shareholders meeting a few years ago. THere was an entire portion of the meeting dedicated to the Princesses and how much money they make for Disney. I understand that...but, hey Toy Story right now is everywhere in the marketplace even more so that the Disney Princess stuff, why not ride this wave -- lots of options -- can make a special dinner 3 nights a week at Mama Melrose, or Hollywood & Vine -- for limited engagement. Even if Toy Story characters cost Disney more money (union issues, costumes, etc) why not take the short term hit, market it as limited engagement or whatever. How about doing at the SciFI restaurant a few nights a week --- play Pixie Short FIlms on the movie screen --- so many options.

i agree that toy story and pirates would make great characters for a dining experience. they use to have pocahontas and john smith etc... at wilderness lodge that seemed a little more boy oriented. if they did pirates with one dressed like captain jack they'd be swamped.

Unfortunately it wouldn't really be possible for Woody and Buzz to be at dining (they aren't really suited to moving around a restaurant, especially Buzz).

i would have thought the same thing but they have some of them in parades woody, jessie...even the horse. plus they put out a 5 foot tall "flit" or whatever his name was from pocahantas...my daughter was 5 at the time and nearly had a heart attack...i'm just saying they can do wonders.

I think it may be something they consider in the future, I mean, Toy Story was huge ten years ago, and it made a comeback with all the merchandising and the cartoon with Buzz, but what if in another ten years it fades away again?

I think they're probably trying to gauge whether or not there is something marketable and lasting before they attempt to do any meet and greets.

Toy Story faded away??? Did you forget that Toy Story 3 was just out this year and made lots and lots of money? And that the newest attraction is Toy Story based? And Disneyland Paris has an entire land in the Walt Disney Studios devoted to Toy Story.

I don't think we need to worry about the Toy Story Franchise going anywhere, with 3 Movies, a television series, 2 theme park attractions, many different video game breakouts, and tons of marketable characters to say the least.

I agree that there should be a Toy Story character meal.

El Pirata Y El Perico is currently undergoing an unannounced refurbishment. Though I have known about the refurbishment since last spring, it has been pushed back by the TDO several times. When the restaurant does reopen, it will no longer be El Pirata... it will turn into Tortuga Tavern. For everyone who is hoping for a pirate character dining experience, you might just get your wish sometime in the near future.

I've said it before

The veranda would be a great place for a Pirates themed character meal. Pirates 4 is coming out next year and a Pirate themed meal would get lots of business.

Diamond Horseshoe is a possible location for a Toy Story meal.
