Tomorrowland Overhaul Speculation

Good question, one I frankly don't really know the answer to. But Imagineering is also heavily interfered with. Which is why I said they needed free reign. But to say that there aren't people who have a ton of love and affection for Disneyland and can make such an expansion there right now ignores what great things we've seen and will be seeing with expansion in the international parks like Mystic Point and Grizzly Gulch in Hong Kong, the new color scheme of Sleeping Beauty Castle right there in Disneyland, and the large scale expansions in Tokyo. Of course there's still Pixar Pier, which is bad but was later said to be a donkey pull to make Lasseter stop bugging them while they worked on Marvel and Star Wars and make Imagineers prove they can do something cheap (you get what you pay for), and Galaxy's Edge which is flawed and unfinished but also had its budget for planned things that were ready to go and would have fixed a lot of its issues slashed through by the bean counters, but to base modern Imagineering on those two things when other recent projects have shown that there's still quite a bit of creativity in Imagineering is an opinion based on a poor premise.

Not sure how international examples apply to what’s happening stateside and I never said that WDI deserves all the blame or even most of it. I said their track record lately sucks... here stateside. Whether it’s Chapek or the imagineers that deserve most of the blame doesn’t matter to me. What matters is I don’t like what they re turning out here lately. So Id rather they hold off on demoing the entire east half of the park at the moment. The risk is far greater than the reward.

And oh ya im sure their are some folks if not all of them at WDI that love Disney parks. I’m not sure all of them really understand what makes Disneyland special though or even understand all the basics for that matter.

So who is this person? He’s not there right now.

Exactly.

While I think Tomorrowland in 2019 is sad and pathetic, a hugely significant change to what was once the most exciting and dynamic part of the park, I worry that this is not the right time to take on a massive remake of this troubled land.

I wouldn't trust Mr. Chapek to select the new urinals for the men's room, let alone decide the entire land's menu of attractions, shows, restaurants and shops.

As painful as it is to keep Tomorrowland on life support, I think it would be better to wait until a new senior management team was in place before they attempt a New Tomorrowland for the 2020's.

You've never been to Disneyland and have no idea how it works but want to run the park? You're perfect as far as Disney's concerned.
I’ve been going to Disney World since I was a handheld, I’m a visual artist and I want to work in the Themed Entertainment Industry. I agree that if I was tasked to run Disneyland, I would want to get to know the park and the ins and outs. Theme park history shows that people who don’t have experience in a subject they’re tasked to work with produce some type of misstep.

For real.

In all honesty, I couldn’t trust a fresh DL newcomer to running the park, even if they’ve visited WDW. I’d require someone like that to visit the park for at least six months to a year first before putting them on assignments.

All of the days they've visited the park has to collectively add up to six months to a year.

I nominate myself. My first order of business if I ran the park would be to restore PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN to its original glory. All movie references and AA's relating to the films or PC crap changes- GONE. New Red Scene-GONE. Replaced back with the original auction scene with Paul Freese's voice work. I would have the pirates chasing the ladies again and have the naked woman in the barrel back. Bring back boats in the style of the originals too. Fully restored with no JACK SPARROW or PC CRAP. 2nd order of business- THE CANCELLATION OF HAUNTED MANSION HOLIDAY and the removal of CONSTANCE replaced by the still beating heart bride.

NO you misunderstand. All AA's that relate to the movies i.e. jack, baarbosa plus all the NEW ones for the new auction scene they added. any AA that was not part of the original auction scene is 86ed. bring back the previous Redhead AA. we are keeping the good stuff. getting rid of all PC references and movie references.

My 3rd order of business is to fix INDIANA JONES. 1. Get the changing chamber door effect working again. 2. have a full refurb done on the ride to get all effects working properly again i.e. the laser and fires. and get the falling debris finally working. get rid of the rats with something more creative and add the fireball effect from the other version of the ride. 3. bring in Harrison Ford to record Indy's lines. I don't care how much it costs I want INDY TO SOUND LIKE INDY. PERIOD.

The Hon. Al Lutz, Grand Poo-bah of Disneyland Rumors, has reappeared!

Not saying much we don’t already know. But did say a new Tomorrowland has been in the works for the past two years and may be mentioned at D23.
