Tomorrowland Overhaul Speculation

The Hon. Al Lutz, Grand Poo-bah of Disneyland Rumors, has reappeared!

Not saying much we don’t already know. But did say a new Tomorrowland has been in the works for the past two years and may be mentioned at D23.
It only make sense that they start work on Tomorrowland. They needed GE for additional capacity while the Tomorrowland is worked on. That was something I talked about when GE broke ground years ago. A Fantasyland expansion could also have happened but definitely not at the same time.

Oh no what a nightmare.

Maybe they learned their lesson with SWL and will also have some respect for an opening day land?

In all honesty, I couldn’t trust a fresh DL newcomer to running the park, even if they’ve visited WDW. I’d require someone like that to visit the park for at least six months to a year first before putting them on assignments.

If someone has only visited WDW, I would be highly suspicious of their ability to do anything of any substance or quality for Disneyland.

IMO DL's Tomorrowland is the uggliest land in any castle park in the world.

If they actually do a full revamp, I'd imagine it'd be hard to make it even worse.
Unless they go for another light reskin of basic paint jobs
You haven't seen Shanghai Disneyland's Tomorrowland! :p

Tron, Buzz Lightyear, Rocket Jets and Talk to Stitch - that's it. No cohesiveness or theme and less rides.

I actually think it looks a lot like EPCOT in its prime. You know, Reagan-era corporations at their best.
You mean the park whose concept came from a city that was centrally planned? Either way, I'm going to go ahead and say this has a lot more imagination and romance to it...

I honestly just couldn't find a good picture when searching Shanghai's Tomorrowland; was not deliberate. I don't feel that picture really captures the empty plaza space that plagues Tomorrowland, however.

No worries - and surely, nothing can top Spaceship Earth. But I find Shanghai's Tomorrowland a very refreshing return to legitimate modernism, something WDI hasn't really done since '82 (or I guess '83 with Tokyo's Tomorrowland). Everything else in the past 35 years has been post-modern, winking at some previous style or some sort of retro-fantasy. Which is fine, but it's nice to see that WDI can still be forward looking if they want to be.
