Tomorrowland Overhaul Speculation

You're frustrated with how Disney has treated Disneyland and that's our fault for expressing the same frustration?
I’m frustrated with the difficulty in developing DLR
largely in part due to the political climate and difficult fan base.
I do think TDA has made missteps that you comment on. Even I have to admit that.

Every year someone around here says Disney is going to announce a new Tomorrowland at D23 and it never happens. I guess even a broken clock is right twice a day. If they do demo Tomorrowland, I bet it will have a mountain range, a bar and more shops than rides. Be careful what you wish for.

I'm waiting for them to finally demolish the People Mover tracks and Innoventions building. These are the 2 major structures that have absolutely no use in Tomorrowland. I heard the submarines are no longer being repaired. This attraction will soon be closed down. The issue is closing down the submarines makes no sense if they aren't going to close the Autopia to make way for new attractions on the north part of Tomorrowland. However, the Fantasyland makeover is equally a hot topic with Frozen going into the former Motor Boat cruise lagoon. The point is that whole Tomorrowland area with Autopia and Submarines can be subdivided into Fantasyland with Frozen and the remaining Tomorrowland area with Tron. Then the rest of Tomorrowland can fall into place. I don't expect changes to Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, and Star Tours. They could add a new restaurant and retail where Innoventions is at.

The white trash part really threw me off. I know that it's trendy to hate on whites these days, but you can't be serious that DLR has a problem with white trash.
I’m as white as white gets, and I’m politically conservative, so that definitely isn’t where I was coming from. I’m sure acknowledging that fact will get me even more fans. 😊

Anyway, I want to apologize for that post!! Really hard stressful day at work and got home late and went way way over the line on that. Sincerely sorry to anyone that I offended.

I had a chance to visit the park last week quickly on a business trip and was just surprised at the number of face tattoos and girls butts hanging out of shorts, teenagers groping and so on....,
It just came off as a strange and not exactly family friendly. I’m sure I just hit it on a bad day.

On one last note, other than the castle being larger than the Matterhorn if they made it bigger, why would simply keeping it small = good design?

Doesn’t the castle barely being taller than the main street shops break design rules of realism as well?

I’m not advocating changes but after visiting Tokyo and WDW numerous times, how small the castle looks walking down Main Street is jarring now. I’m a huge fan of Walt. Up there with Washington, Adams and Patrick Henry as my favorite all time Americans.
But I’m not sure if he was alive and surveying the Disney landscape, he himself wouldn’t jump on things like castle enhancements.
Maybe I’m wrong.

I understand that it pretty much has to happen, but I will be really sad to see the PeopleMover tracks come down. MK's WedWay PeopleMover is such a nice, relaxing experience to see that Tommorowland. It would have been awesome to be able to enjoy the similar (extended) experience through DL's winding tracks over the lagoons and Autopia, while diving through the monorail beams. If they are truly no longer repairing the other TL attractions, then how sad.

Has anyone seen the rumored name for Frozen Land? Arendelle: World of Frozen. Why????

Why can’t it be just Arendelle? Or heck, Frozen Land? I like Cars Land more than Cars Land: World of Radiator Springs

These long colon-ized names have to stop!

I just hope that if it makes its way to DL they just include it as part of Fantasyland. Even if it is its own little section. After all (no pun intended), Small World is part of Fantasyland, it’s not called Small World district.

The subs are no longer being repaired, nor is Autopia. Rumor is Disneyland even lost a submarine.

Wut? Please clarify what is meant by "They lost a submarine." They misplaced a forty-foot-long, twelve-foot-high boat that is immobile on land?

I think the lack of "repairs/maintenance" has already been addressed as part of the larger cuts to operating expenses due to Star Wars Land not registering the type of money they hoped. Many things are being pared back and history shows maintenance is always one of the things that goes first.

As for a Tomorrowland redo...No. I definitely hope not. Bob Iger has already done enough damage to the parks and - for the umpteenth time - I would rather take the chance on waiting out his reign and hope subsequent CEO's are more amenable to classic theme park design, rather than keep going down the route we've been going.

I’m sensing that you two know each other from laughing place
Yah I agree. That looks ridiculously tacky! I don’t know if I could ever actually accept castle changes but if they were just to add a little grandeur, and completely kept the integrity of the original look, I might.

Also, I remember him vaguely from laughingplace but I don’t think we ever had a word to each other.
That I can remember anyway.
I was actually one of the first laughinplace members to migrate over here when those boards started dying. Then I remember Dr.Hans and 1 or 2
others coming over. But I didn’t post much over here for quite a while.
Anyway I don’t want to make an enemy with anyone so my replies on that are done.

Why would there even be a Frozen land? All it needs to be is a small extension of Fantasyland. A subset like Wonderland or Storybookland. No need for another entire land at Disneyland. That's so stupid.

But of course they ll use the opportunity that they have a whole new land! You just need to walk out of Fantasyland courtyard to get there and then when you re done keep walking towards IASW and you re in Fantasyland again!

At best they Give it the Fantasy Faire treatment on the Fantasyland section of the map.

Actually, wouldn't the equivalent be: Radiator Springs: World of Cars? I kinda like it tbh.

I don’t think this will come to DL on this scale.
I think a Frozen ride will eventually show up, unless the 2nd film tanks, but that’s about it.
Is there even room in DL for an expansion the size of Frozen that’s going to Paris and Hong Kong?

Just about everything here could be taken out in favor of a Fantasyland expansion. If we ever do get a Fantasyland expansion, I do hope it involves a Tangled ride.

I hope so too. I think the motor boat cruise area or the Wonderbra theater could handle a Frozen expansion since we aren't losing Toon Town.

I never understand how motorboat Cruise is proposed for new attractions. I’d imagine whatever goes there would be taking most of its real estate from Autopia. Unless I don’t realize how big the Motorboat Cruise area is?
