Tomorrowland Overhaul Speculation

I get the allure of new Fantasyland attractions and a new TL and have many times myself asked for these things. But the more I see from WDI I don’t want to see these things changed anymore. At least not for now.

When they butchered the ROA it didn’t really effect the park experience outside of when you are riding the boats/ships or eating at the Hungry Bear lower level. If they were to blow up TL and get rid of Autopia and most of its trees, the Subs/lagoon, motorboat Cruise area, the whole subs/ Autopia/ monorail/ TL DLRR matrix it would significantly alter the atmosphere of that whole side of the park. There is a strong chance it would overall be a net loss. A net loss in cohesion, charm and most likely attraction count too. All for maybe 3 new rides tops and a couple replacements that may or may not be better than what came before them.

Glad we're allowed to talk about Imagineering's missteps as long as they're missteps you agree with.
Is there a difference between talking about a misstep and virtually every thread being dominated by one form or another of the same negative comments?
I’ve called out Disney for many mistakes but it’s not all I comment on. How is it different than someone posting a defense of Disney and then getting dog piled on here by the majority and then watch the “likes” pile up after rude comments?
Look, what I said was rude and uncalled for, but do you guys actually read the posts on here?
Seams like rude comments are “liked” if it lines up with the dominating view on here that current Disney and imagineers suck, and rude comments that don’t are just trolling and uncalled for.
Anyway, my last post on this.

It's because current Disney and Imagineers do suck.

But not everything we post here is negative, believe it or not. For example, the new sign on the Hungry Bear Restaurant is fantastic!

By all means, if any critique on management, Disneyland, WDI seems uncalled for and wrong too you I think everyone here would encourage you to write substantive responses about why those critiques are misguided.

This is a pretty light hearted and playful group that's pretty accepting of all viewpoints, provided the person providing the viewpoint is respectful, well written, and willing to have a discussion.

Or, you can come in with an incredibly rude "holier than thou art" attitude, complain about people complaining, and then get mad when people call you out on it.

I think a lot of DL fans are underestimating the huge effect that the reception of Galaxys Edge in Anaheim is going to have on the future of the resort. Hollywood Studios is about to open to massive crowds. Don’t believe me, the reservations for Savis workshop opened up yesterday and in 1 day there are no reservations available until October. I’m going September 23rd with my wife and kids and virtually everything is booked up from the Cantina to Savis and Droid Depot. The comparison between the 2 openings is going to place DLR and it’s fanbase and it’s ability to pull big spending tourists in a very very bad light to Disney Execs. I see massive purse strings being tightened out west and major additions shelved. As well as maintenance deteriorating.
I’m sorry but a large part of the local fanbase either ***** and moan 24 hours a day about EVERYTHING, or they show up to the parks, looking and behaving like misfits/animals/white trash. I used to feel that DL had the higher class customers but man has that ever changed!!!
I think lean times are coming for Anaheim.
Either that, or they will finally say screw it to catering to and being fearful of the DL loyalists who want the park to be a museum and keep TDA from making the decisions to turn DLR into a true destination like Vegas or WDW or.........
Yes I’m looking at you puny castle that almost looks ridiculously little when walking down main street and is always the NUMBER 1 thing people who have visited other Disney destinations and then go to DL remember and talk about.
And no loyalists, they don’t go on and on about Pirates being 8 minutes longer and the cozy square in the back of New Orleans. FWIW, I love both of those aspects of DL. Just venting some frustration here over the **** poor reception of GE in Anaheim and ridiculous armchair imagineer “geniuses” who hate everything going on but are on Disney park fansites virtually 24 hours a day.

Ok there!!
Now be gentle with the returning onslaught please!
Believe it or not I hate confrontation but I guess I deserve what’s coming!!
I just want to see DLR do well and grow and have exciting expansions and I’m frustrated with how hard it is out west.
Disney World is for tourists, Disneyland is for PURISTS. BOOM goes the dynomite.

There's a way to not only have space for frozen, but to also have it be part of fantasyland and not it's own thing! Just replace sleeping beauty castle with Arendelle castle. Then for the ride, add elsa's ice castle on top of matterhorn, and replace the abominable snowman with marshmallow from frozen ❄🏔⛄

I never understand how motorboat Cruise is proposed for new attractions. I’d imagine whatever goes there would be taking most of its real estate from Autopia. Unless I don’t realize how big the Motorboat Cruise area is?
Right? It's tiny. Reminds me of when so many people wanted a dark ride in the old Fantasyland Skyway station.

Nice work! So.... half of Star Tours? A ride that doesn’t need a lot of room because it’s just a hallway of simulators.

So basically, saying they re building Frozen on the motorboat Cruise plot is like saying they built SWL on Big Thunder Ranch n BBQ.
Well if I remember the rumor correctly Frozen would include part of Autopia on the Lagoon side also. Then the rest of Autopia and Subs would be used for TL redo. So when you add in all that you're talking about an area larger than the FL Theater plot of land (I believe).

However with that said, the current rumors floating around is that all of Autopia and Sub would be taken out for Tron if the TL redo gets greenlit.

I think you might have missed my point.

Well what was your point, besides the fact you don't want current WDI/Management touching anymore of DLR?

That mentioning the motorboat Cruise area as an expansion area in and of itself doesn’t make sense.

Something I’ve done many times in the past but then caught myself looking at the space on a park trip and noticed their isn’t very much room there. It would only make sense if it was the 50s through 80s and they were building an old school Fantasyland style dark ride.

True, which is why I mentioned the rest of the area that was part of the rumors. I don't think there was any rumor where the Motorboat area was discussed as an expansion area by itself (unless it was just for a sitdown restaurant BOG style, which is one rumor I heard). Part of Autopia was always included as far as I'm aware when talking future attractions.

I forgot to mention in my post yesterday a TL redo and Fantasyland expansion would most likely also be a net loss in shade and seating as well. They don’t seem to be very fond of designing these elements for guests anymore. Unless the guests are paying for the shade and seating of course.

Mostly fans like us here like to toss it around as a potential expansion pad. Most recently I think Shelly Valadolid mentioned as it as an expansion area by itself. But then again she says a lot of crazy things.

Not to say you could couldn’t fit a nice “little” restaurant in that area. Hopefully utilizing the pond in some way.
