The waterfall effect could easily be done with projection mapping and audio.
Can you give us an example of a convincing water feature that only uses projections and audio?

It's not convincing in dark show scenes (7DMT, Frozen), so I can't imagine how silly this would look in an outdoor location of that scale trying to simulate a waterfall at any distance.

They now have the tech to make an engaging waterfall that doesn't create as much spray. They use them at the Aria Hotel and Casino. They create varying patterns and are beautiful to look at... This could be used with a new entry that would feel more futuristic than painted rocks.

I dont think that would work well in a place with daily thunderstorms and winds

I think it probably could be designed into a structure where it would work.
There are water features all over the world that work in daily rains and wind...The Gull Wing waterwalls were far enough away from people they could control the spray...especially since it is a very shallow sheet of water...
And really, anything is better than the painted rock things. The land needs more kinetic features... Something like this would give it some life and drama.

If I remember correctly, the spray on the walkway did not come from the gull wing section. There were also 4 or 5 large jets that were near the top of the spires that were pointed down. Those caused the spray that covered the walkways. At one point those were turned off and the gull wing section only was on.

Bad image but the jets are shown at the top of the spires here:

I think the spray did come from the tower jets...
The Tokyo versions are still there... they don't run the gull wing portion and have a painted mural.... but imagine these being rebuilt, and doing the gull wing portion with giant video screens doing moving patterns with the downward jets restored but less intense. The moving patterns would add some nice kinetics...During the fireworks, they could be used as show elements.... There is a lot they could do with them... Least of all it would add a big wow back to the entrance to the land.....

There's got to be a way.
Technology changes, I'm quite certain that there are a myriad of different types of nozzles etc., than there were way back when.

I agree... Even the waterwalls at the Aria produce very little spray...There is seating within a few feet from them...
And gigantic video walls could be designed with moving graphics like a "technological data waterfall"... very Tron-like....which could be the beginning of an integration of the two styles of Tomorrowland.

Certainly.
A moving image panel on the back, with some amount of real water over the front.

Well in 2024 it will be 30 years since Tomorrowland had an actual complete renovation....and I would say it is now time... Bring it back to it's mid-century modern outer-space aesthetic...
The bones are there...They need two great new attractions and a lot of land enhancement including an all new entrance to the land... Something over the top and amazing... We don't really need to go Beyond Thunder Mountain if they would just refresh and update the spaces they have first... There is space for 4 attractions in Tomorrowland SGS, MILF, the Speedway, and the old Galaxy Theater. The circus tent area needs to go and be expanded into another headline attraction for Fantasyland ( Neverland and an expanded Peter Pan anyone?)... Which would then open up the Peter Pan building for another new (Tangled) dark ride to match the restrooms across the esplanade... After Tomorrowland is completely viable again and Fantasyland is sorted out, then it is time to talk about Beyond Thunder Mountain... Not while major parts of the park are in decay or unused....

Tomorrowland needed a renovation 20 years ago both in CA and FL. They arent gonna do it

We might have something.

Emphasization that it's nothing definitive, but Magicart is hearing about a possible SGE replacement. Says that if true, it's a good retrofit and better than WiR.

Maybe. I need to hear it from someone else though. Don't let me be the source. I don't want that responsibility. Until then, we'll just wait and see. Has anyone else heard anything?

Edited it to double down on emphasization that it's nothing definitive.

My bad, got a lil too excited. I was one of the five people who loved SGE, and I've been waiting for anything about a possible replacement.

I hear ya. It's been a while. I miss A.E. and I'm in the camp that thought Stitch was better than nothing.

If this develops, I wonder if the good ol' chili dog and general whiff that SGE had will still be in there (I've heard CMs say it's still there when they're trying to take a break). Wouldn't be surprised if it's just permanently scarred into the building at this point. 😅
