Tomorrowland Speedway needs to go for a variety of reasons:

1. It doesn't fit in Tomorrowland thematically.
2. It's low capacity.
3. It's not environmentally friendly.
4. It's not as popular as it once was.
5. It's build on a huge chunk of land that could be used for a major Tomorrowland expansion project.

That's just what comes to mind right off the bat.

Also: The cancers that the CM's and possibly Guests will develop long-term due to the many carcinogens in the fumes from the vehicles.

I'm a fan of this (shocker by my avatar I know) and I hope if anything does happen with it, it's upgrades and not a demo. Truthfully though, I think they had the perfect opportunity to demo this with the FLE and since they didn't, I doubt it's going anywhere. The space could've been used for Storybook Circus rather than having to go through the trouble of building around it so I feel confident in my gut instinct there. :)

Also a comment on the fumes... while electric would be great for many reasons already mentioned, there is something about the smell of the exhaust that gives it some realism. That's what it smells like in the infield/pits of a race. That's what it smells like at a go-kart track even. Is it good for anyone or the environment? Surely not... but quite honestly a drive in rush hour or, hey, waiting in line at say the entrance to parking at a Disney park, really isn't any better. LOL! :D

One of the issues that people have is that is what it smells like in the infield/pits of a race, NOW, that's what it smells like at a go-kart track, NOW, that's what it smells like at rush hour, NOW, that's what it smells like at the entrance to parking at Disney, NOW! This is supposed to be TOMORROWland, not Todayland!

Holy bold and underline... you're passionate! LOL! But yeah to me this attraction was never really part of Tomorrowland and more fit into Fantasyland. Even the day it opened it wasn't in anyway "tomorrow" themed. :)

Well then, surely the fantasy would be fumeless cars! ;) j/k

I like the ride (we do it at least once every trip), and it seems to be a kind of "rite of passage" ride for children.

I would rather that it was improved (electric, something to see when you go round, etc.) and possibly relocated (it could fit perfectly beside Test Track in Future World if it used electric/hybrid cars (could they use the car park where the outside loop for Test Track is? Can you imagine zooming around the outside loop and seeing people driving around underneath, or driving around in the cars and seeing the people go past on Test Track?), rather than removed completely.

No thanks on a Cars overlay. If they had to do a retheme, I'd go with Motorcity.

Of course, I'd much prefer to see the space used for a Tomorrowland Expansion.

I agree, no Cars overlay! Especially if Carsland is slated for DHS. If it must stay, a Tomorrowland themed overlay would be nice. Go electric, enclose it, maybe with a second story? Who knows, they could go wild with that idea alone.

I personally like to see it gone (in the 25 years going to the parks, even when I was the right age for it, never went on it) and have either a Tomorrowland expansion or a nice little subland that connects Tomorrowland and Fantasyland (like a Epic Mickey vs. Villians something)

I couldn't agree more with this statement. Sure it may not be anything amazing for adults but for little ones, that first time they can do this and see over the wheel (lol) or the first time they can drive one all by themselves, it's awesome!

New Fantasyland looks amazing, until you look to your right and see Space Mountain. A few large buildings dropped where Tomorrowland Speedway sits. Theme it to Fantasyland on one side (castle walls?) and Tomorrowland on the other (Video Walls?) then throw a dark ride or a show or both in there and call it a day.

For Tomorrowland, if they still wanted to consider the Peoplemover the TTA Blueline then I think they should build a second story Peoplemover like an "Orangeline" that went to a special extension of Tomorrowland only accessible on the TTA. There could be a TRON ride and some other stuff right in this area next to Space Mountain.

The Speedway is one of those attractions at Walt Disney World that has hardly changed a bit since opening day. I think it needs to go and will eventually. It's a right of passage for kids. It's simple. I get it, but it really does take up so much space. It really is very outdated and barely fits the theme of Tomorrowland or Storybook Circus/Enchanted Forest. The real estate could be used for a new attraction or two whether it is Tomorrowland or Fantasyland themed or both.

Last night I was watching a video on YouTube of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority (because I miss the parks and needed a fix) and the person filming showed the Speedway from the PeopleMover... Now I knew it took up a healthy chunk of real estate, but because I never went on it and always completely ignore it going to and from Tomorrowland/Fantasyland... I never realized HOW FREAKING MUCH SPACE it took up! I mean, wow! I was underestimating it in my mind... there is so much that can be done with it...

So, I like the Villian's/Epic Mickey subland idea... but I think there could also be an addition to Tomorrowland in there as well... I know a lot of people want Tron (I wouldn't mind it either, Tron: Legacy was a great movie) BUT let's face it... Wreck-It-Ralph is going to be a huge hit... So I propose this: change the cars to electric, scale it back a little, enclose it, come up with a reason to be inside the game and make it a Sugar Rush overlay...thoughts?
