Tokyo Disneyland Resort Expansion

Speak for yourself. Among my Japanese friends (my sample group is college-age Japanese, mostly women), there's a reputation for food at the parks being pretty mediocre to even bad, especially for the price point it's at. It's not uncommon at all to leave the parks during the day and hike over to Maihama Station or Ikspiari for a meal at Saizeriya or McDonald's because the food is better for a cheaper price.

Heck my last time going with friends, it was a bit of a thing to get them to eat inside the park. Managed to sell them on that French toast sandwich at La Taverne de Gaston though, that's one of the best quick service items at any Disney Park on the planet.

See that’s different though and what I was asking. Its been so long for me so I really cannot recall if the food was any good. Do the locals dislike it, which is different from picky American eaters disliking it. The food can be good without being burgers, pizza and fries.

I really dislike the merch, which I don’t know if that is the local experience. I’m curious what your college friends think of park Merch?

Funnily enough I actually think TDR merch is a decent step up from the American parks. Not sure how much of that is just due to the fact that it's not all random Star Wars and Marvel merch packing every gift shop regardless of what land it's in.

Also I pretty much always buy some of the park-exclusive candy/cookies whenever I go. There's quite a lot available.

Here's a look at the Fantasy Springs construction. You can see the shape Elsa and Anna.

The amount of completely blank walls facing into the park on that hotel is kind of terrible.

And now we know why the Toy Story Hotel is go away blue, so you don’t notice it looming over the other hotel from inside the park. 😂 (Although I realize you probably won’t be able to see it from ground level)

Tokyo has insanely good quick-service and it's significantly (I mean significantly) cheaper than going to a comparable restaurant at WDW, Disneyland, or any other Disney resort short of Shanghai.

And it doesn't end with the food like Hungry Bear's outstanding breaded curry pork & chicken. The theming is almost always remarkable.

The snacks and the popcorn variety are definitely the showstoppers!

Historically, there were few and far between solid quick-service locations at WDW which is most known for the various hotel's and EPCOT's outstanding table-service, but that has been changing.

New quick-service locations have all had good food at WDW:
  • Harambe Market
  • Nomad Lounge
  • Satu'li Canteen
  • Docking Bay 7
  • Woody's Lunch Box
  • Regal Eagle Smokehouse
  • Connections Cafe & Eatery
  • Gaston's Tavern
  • Be Our Guest (when it used to be:cry:)
& Disneyland:
  • Docking Bay 7
  • Carthay Circle Lounge
  • Flo's V8 Café
  • Pym Test Kitchen
  • Most of the Pixar Pier Stands like Poultry Palace or Jack Jack's

I think Disneyland Anaheim has consistently better quick-service than WDW (if you include their older offerings), but still falls way behind Tokyo. Even beyond my cherry-picked ones, you can find yourself a restaurant basically anywhere at TDR and get a savory meal.

I might add that the merchandise is super unique and even at times out there (we're talking toilet paper holders). Everyone seems to be wearing something Disney. You can see a lot of clothing influences in the new American parks merch coming from Tokyo.

Right?!? I would take Tokyo's food offerings over 80% of the offerings at other parks I've been to, Disney or otherwise. Maybe that could be turned into an indictment of theme park food in general, but really, what do people expect?

OLC has posted their Dancer and Character auditions for the batch of April 2023. This is good news as things has slowly going back to normal.
Ease on Social distancing, Park attendance going back to pre pandemic era.
Shows Returning with first come first seat shows.
No more Entry passes on Meet and greets.
Removal of Standby passes.
The yet to be announced Paid fastpass.

Tokyo Disneyland 40th anniversary celebrations is just around the corner and this might be a great time for them to debut new entertainments for both parks.
(New daytime parade, Believe! and the return of Nighttime projection spectacular at Tokyo Disneyland.)

No, They've already held auditions for the batch of 2022, since last year which will debut sometime this year.

The one that i posted was for the Batch of 2023 entertainers, They do this every year before pandemic began.

Tdr Entertainers has a maximum of 1 year contract upon passing the auditions with 3 months of training, and if they Higher ups think you still have it they will extend that entertainers contract.

Exactly. The food is fantastic compared to the other resorts. No idea why that comment is so liked. Maybe an American is just easily impressed?
As a local and a longtime park goer for the past 15 years , I can say that Parks food lineup has downgraded drastically with more quick service and lesser table service, With limited options compared to years before.

Where we get Seasonal table menus anniversary menu's and park original food services and campaigns.

yes there is a wide variety now but it literally is downgraded with more basic and weird menu options.

Allow me to offer this a big fat "HUH?!??"

And since no one else has said it . . . this looks really ready to sit right next to a TRON Lightcycle Run.
