Yep. Thinking with my heart instead of my brain (some my say, thinking with my a$$ instead of my brain around here lately).

Man, how about Northern Iowa's run on G-Tech to start the second half. All the games are close at the moment. I love this time of year. Hey, have a good weekend.

That's ok, if Michigan was in it I would have picked them to go all the way... wait, no I wouldn't! Have a good weekend. Good luck on your bracket!

BAH. east tenn state should have won. so illinois could beat them in the next round.

oh well. bring on cincy!

and my bracket of no upsets is doing quite well. 8 for 8 today. and 14 of 16 yesterday.

only two upsets thus far. come on underdogs!

well, that is all of the games for now. I have an hour of work left, but I will be on and off later tonight. then to bed. then up again for round 2!

Well, the upset bids keep coming up short. Northern Iowa and ETSU lose close games, and I thought Western Michigan was gonna give Vandy a game, but the Commodores pulled away late. This reminds me of the tourney a couple years ago, where nearly every underdog kept it close, but only 2 or 3 of them actually got through the first round.

Georgia Tech's win gives the ACC a perfect 6-0 mark in Round 1.

what a great turn around of Wisconsin in this game. with 2 min left, they are up 10, but wth 17 min left, they were down by 11.

the home crowd might have helped that.

and yay! finally an upset tonight!pacific over providence!

Yeah, I didn't see any of the Wisconsin game, but at one point, I saw they were down like 11 and looking like they were going to roll over and then, next thing I know, they're leading by 5.

The final score didn't show it, but FAMU put a real scare into Kentucky. They were still within striking distance with about 11 minutes to go before the 'Cats put it away.

Whew...a track meet to bring the first round to an end, as UAB edges Washington 102-100, and this is technically Upset #4, if you count a 9 beating an 8 an upset.

UCF put up a great defensive effort, but just couldn't score enough points to beat Pitt.

32 teams down, 32 left. Round 2 starts...oh, about 12 hours or so from now. :)

For anyone who's interested, here's yet another sign that I take this tournament way too seriously: A rundown of each conference's record in the Big Dance after 1 round (minus the result of the play-in game).

ACC: 6-0
Big 12: 4-0
Big West: 1-0
Metro Atlantic: 1-0
West Coast: 1-0
Big East: 5-1
Conference USA: 4-2
SEC: 4-2
Big Ten: 2-1
A-10: 2-2
WAC: 1-1
Pac-10: 1-2
Missouri Valley: 0-2
Mountain West: 0-3
Everybody else (America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Colonial, Horizon, Ivy, Mid-American, Mid-Con, MEAC, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Southern, Southland, Sun Belt, SWAC): 0-16

Not a bad first two days. As it stands, I am 26-6 with 1 sweet 16 team out (my upset special of Western Michigan). Happy for the SEC that Vandy won though. It's funny how you may have picked the favorite on your pool, but often root for and are happy when the underdog pulls the upset. Now for the round of 32. :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

I think every top seed will win today except North Carolina will beat Texas. Texas is too talented for their own good. They have too many players and nobody gets the minutes they deserve.

I agree, but I think maryland and syracuse are an even battle.

I am off to watch it on my dad's big screen! Iwill check in later tonight!

So the Blue Devils roll into a Sweet 16 date with Illinois or Cincinnati. Hopefully, the rest of the games today will be closer.

(Is it just me, or does anyone else hear "Bananas in Pajamas" anytime an announcer says "Nevada and Gonzaga"?) :lookaroun

Ladies and gents, we have a Cinderella. The folks who were upset about Michigan State's performance on Thursday might not feel so bad after seeing how Nevada dominated Gonzaga today. Wow, did they come to play this weekend! Upset of the tournament so far (but I have a feeling we'll see bigger before it's done).

Now, can Manhattan pull off another one?

Wake survives Manhattan; the Deacons won 2 games this weekend by a total of 5 points, but they're still around, and the ACC is still perfect.

Now this is more like it: Stanford misses a 3 at the buzzer and gets sent packing by the 8 seed 'Bama, who had sleepwalked through most of the second half; Maryland battles all the way back against the 'Cuse but can't hit either of two open looks at the horn; and St. Joe's gets thoroughly tested by Texas Tech. Gooood stuff!
