ok kids, I am going to lunch over at the Atheltics building with the coaches of the other sports. (my fiance is a computer guy for them).

Sounds like you need to get a job in the Athletic Department...then you might be able to watch all the basketball you want. :)

Big East and ACC still unbeaten in the Dance--kind of a lackluster opening batch of games today.

yeah, the SEC has lost 2 out of 3 already. Kentucky and Mississippi State should roll tonight, but Vandy could be in trouble in this next game.

I hope not. I have Vandy over WMU. SEC isn't strong this year...even in the NIT they have been given a sound beating.

yeah , i need a job over there. but no openings yet. :(

illinois puts it to murray state. and I am going to put it too CBS. stupid CBS, we missed the last 3 minutes of the game we wanted to see, so we can see the other THREE games going on.

My issue is this. the first two days of the tourny, there is 16 games to be played, and at any one time, there is at least 3 or 4 games going on. CBS is the ONLY station showing the games. So even if you want to watch your game, they are always going to be cutting in with others.

CBS, for next year, should either use another Viacom station to carry some of the games, or make a partnership with a smaller broadcasting company to borrow them for the first two rounds.

or, once their deal runs out, have the disney co and ESPN fight for it. because when I take my lunch hour to go somewhere to watch the game, I want to WATCH the ENTIRE game. not just the first 37 minutes of it. ALL OF IT>

ok, done rambling. off to find a few emails to a few people at CBS.

Well, I've always liked CBS's coverage, for the most part. I would like to see the first round coverage split betwen more carriers, but as long as CBS has it to themselves, I would rather see the finish of a close game than the finish of a runaway, even if the runaway featured a team I was rooting for. Of course, I'm one of these people who's ALWAYS wondering what's happening in the other games. I keep the radio, TV, and Internet all close at hand whenever I can, so I can follow every game. So if I'm a Duke fan and Duke is rolling while another game is coming down to the wire, I'd much rather switch to the other game.

But that's just me. :D

I would agree with you for the most part, except when it comes to the illini. I know in the past (I don't remember if it was CBS) that they did picture in picture, with the endings of other games in the corner, so that you can see the endings of all of the games. If they went back to that, I would be very happy.

and I guess I am a bit more emotional today about it, since it was a PAIN in the booty coordinating everyone's schedules so I could leave for lunch to see the second half. everyone was cool about it, but I still feel bad about asking others to switch their schedules for me, just to sit around for 10 minutes wondering if my game was over or if they were going to show any more of it.

ok, I am cool now. got it off my chest, and back to watching the little numbers flip on my game ticker.

and it is 2 hours and 39 minutes away from the weekend. :):)

and Wilt, you haven't given much indication to whom you are a fan of. so I ask you this. Who are you a fan of?

Well, that's a very good question. Unfortunately, there's no easy answer. I like Duke, because they have such great tradition there and are consistently in the hunt. Living in south GA, the Bulldogs (out in Round 1 of the NIT) are big down here, so I follow their success or lack thereof pretty closely. And I go to Georgia Southern, which is a D-I school, but hasn't made the tournament in many a year and would be stuck with a 14 or 15 seed if they did. Having transferred there after 2 years in junior college, I've never quite made that total emotional connection with the teams.

So I guess you could consider me fans of all of those, but honestly, there's no team I live and die with, and hasn't been since I was statkeeper for the team at my old junior college. I traveled with the team in those days and knew all the guys, cheerleaders, and coaches personally; I went to practices, roomed with the guys, and heard many a halftime and postgame speech whilst delivering stats to the coach, and that truly was an emotional connection. Junior college teams--all the emotion and hard work and none of the recognition.

So there...probably way more information about me and my rooting interests than you ever needed. :)

you did answer my question. it must be fun being a fan of several teams, you have an outsiders opinion on most games. I try to keep an open mind about most games, except the ones that affect my team. :)

ok cool. now I know. :)

oh, and by the way, East Tennessee State won my school's conference (the Southern Conference) this year, so it would be nice to see them do well as a 13 seed, since my school's not in it.

yeah, this has really surprised me....I just don't see the Eagles hanging in for another half, tho. This would be a titanic upset.

I'll give you three guesses (five for those from the state of this team) as to my favorite team.

See Honeymooner, I even poke fun at my heritage:lol:

Man, using the tragedy of the Titanic to quantify a basketball game. I mean, come on. I saw the movie and other than the artwork, I was emotionally devestated, "Jack, Jack, Jack, Jack, (I think he is frozen ma'am)Jack, Jack. . ."

Yep. Thinking with my heart instead of my brain (some my say, thinking with my a$$ instead of my brain around here lately).

Man, how about Northern Iowa's run on G-Tech to start the second half. All the games are close at the moment. I love this time of year. Hey, have a good weekend.
