It seems like you're misreading my posts.
It's pretty clear:
• Some people have jobs with a living wage. They don't need to be tipped.
• Other people rely on tips to supplement their salary. They should be tipped. Service positions are often paid UNDER minimum wage because it's assumed that a great deal of their compensation will be in tips, not salary.

Exactly. So following this logic. Mimimum wage here is $8.10 and housekeepers get paid $12.

I've saved you the trouble and found the quote you are referring to...

One is making a house call.. and to me the equals a tipping scenario.. needing my printer reconnected to my computer at work, by a fellow employee -not a tipping scenario. And yes, I think they are doing ok without it, nor do I think they would ever expect it.

So, next time you quote someone, remember what they actually said :)

lol, do not even try. You said it, dont try to try and justify it. I quoted that phrase verbatim.

Cruel? They accepted the position. If you do not like what you make, get a better job. Wow, tipping because you feel sorry for someone. This thread is pretty much summed up with that notion by everyone.
Are you kidding me? I'M the bad guy because... I voluntarily give money to someone to show my gratitude for their service? Really? Generosity is a sin now?

I have already said this, DUH! When I go to chilis, I leave a $1 or $2 tip. I am usually solo, I am not leaving a $10 for someone that brought me a glass of water, boy bye
Nominal gratuity in restaurants is 18-20%. If you're tipping less than that on a regular basis, you will be banned from restaurants.

Agreed. I would hate to break this down into racial microagressions but I am going to choose to leave that under the rug.

Good because your points are completely inept
I said I tip one dollar per person per day. You link to two articles that say exactly that. Then you cry foul claiming that some phantom bad guy wants you to tip $20 per day, which literally nobody has said, including your two "sources."

Brilliant! I knew it! I was actually going to make a joke that your Ph.D must be in gender studies or applied dance theory or microaggressions or some other such nonsense. Thank you for confirming.

Do you live in the USA? There is not a restaurant I ever dinned at where I have been banned. LOL this is the craziest post I have read. Please direct me to a list of restaurants where I will be banned so I can purposefully visit.

Exactly! You are making an argument that I am a bad person for not tipping. In both it says it is polite/customary. I choose not to. It is part of my room fee and they make $12 / hour. Period!

I am just going to end on this. You all have basically said that you tip because its etiquette for great service. Then you go onto say, if someone who makes a lot of money gives great service, they dont deserve a tip because they make too much money. This thread summed up is, I feel sorry for them because they do not make that much money, so I am going to tip them not based on service, but because I feel sorry for them. Done and done.

I wonder how many times someone has spit into his food. LOL Servers remember the jerks and they share info with the other employees. If someone does not want to tip of service then they should stick to fast food.

Yes. Did you not know that tipping at restaurants is part of visiting there? Nominal tip is 18-20% in 2017. Most restaurants keep note of regulars who tip less than that and will ask them what's up or ask them not to return. If you're tipping only a dollar or two, yeah, you should be barred from restaurants. That's how it works.

Since you opened the door by bringing in "microaggressions," I think you need to look in the mirror at the way you treat the marginalized. Many of these folks are immigrants. Is it all immigrants you don't like, or just Cuban- and Haitian-Americans?

You're just a tool of the cis-hetero-normative racist patriarchy amirite?

Except for one tiny detail.. literally no one said that.

If I am tipping a dollar or two consistently, I probably would never come back.... That is the point people are trying to make. Tipping out of pity is not etiquette. You are saying I should tip for bad service. Enough bad service, I am not coming back so your point is null.

Who is saying you should tip for bad service? I'm not.
