:veryconfu I have a question, on tipping for dining. We are going to WDW August 21. and I was wondering just exactly how you all figure your tips. meaning....

here when I get the bill our tax is 8.625% so if we just double the tax, we are giving over the 15%. (just an easy calculation for me) and if it is exceptional service I double the tax, and add more.

Does anyone know how much the tax is in WDW? so that i can calculate the tip. or does anyone have a better method?

thanks!!!

I have a sort of weird way of doing so. I just take 10% which is insanely easy to figure out and then double it. I don't like tipping less than 20% anywhere unless the service was bad. Personally I've known too many people in my lifetime that worked for tips so I'd rather go a bit over average than under. :)

pppwell, if you're on the dining plan, tip is included, and many people opt to add a few extra bucks if the service was very good.

Your cell phone might have calculator function, to avoid making a mistake.

I think sales tax is 8 or 8.25 percent in fla, so doubling will still get you over 15 percent. Otherwise, round up a dollar, figure out 10 percent, cut it in half, add the two numbers and you've got 15 plus a few pennies..

Bill is $37.58, round up to 38.00. 10 percent is 3.80, half of that is 1.90. Add the two, it's 5.70.

Actually, it's 7% or 7.5% pending on where you are. The state has a set amount (6%) and then each county can add onto that. WDW straddles two counties so some things ring up at one sales tax and some things the other depending on where you are.

I do things the way jesserin does as well. Figure 10% and double it. $20 total bill would be $2 x 2 = $4 tip. Though I tend to overtip and would probably leave a five just because it's easy.

thank you all for the help. I do usually over tip,(a few glasses of wine, helps make for a great tip:ROFLOL:), but I just wanted to make sure i was calculating it correctly. 20% of the bottom line sounds perfect to me.

by the way, we are not using the DDp, we are using the DDE.

Are you using the dining plan?...if so, I believe your tip is figured into the price you paid for the plan...even better if you got the free dining plan!

If you're using DDE, then the 20% off is calculated for you... Save you doing all that math!

15% isn't that tough to figure, if that's what you want to leave. Obviously, 10% is easy to figure, so if you add half of that number to itself *presto* 15%.

Example: Your bill is $22 and you want to leave 15%. You know 10% is $2.20 and half of that is $1.10. Add 'em together and you get $3.30.
