Price increase?

Thick has nothing to say?

Walt DisneyMart still packed?

MM+ broken at DHS?

SHOCKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There were no truer words spoken when @WDW1974 said that the day when you voted with your wallet sailed out on a DCL boat. I know it wont happen but everyone who really cares should let them know in a letter or email. Do you think TWDC will get one letter about this with a Rio post mark? A London post mark?

My prediction is that one day a Disney dollar will be a Yuan.

Park ticket increase? The next shoe to drop will be food price increases, $12.43 for a burger that even a dog would turn its nose up at?

Mine train will have ridiculously long lines....because it is the first REAL new attraction in years. We now know why it took so long. They wanted it to open it to coincide with HP2.0.....really Disney?....Really!

People complain that there isn't enough attractions being added, which is true. But Disney has added tons of stuff to do. It just cost you more money like more restaurants. Anyone want to bet that the very next new thing to open at WDW after Mine train will be a restaurant?

IMO Do you know what Disney didn't see coming? The huge amount of extra labor MM+ needed. Extra IT, Extra front line. This cost probably doesn't even figure in to the total 2 billion or what ever the cost is.

Price increase? Are we really that surprised?

OMG I bet she was. As much as I feel sorry for her I also blame her for not doing ANY research at ALL.

One simple Google search would have saved her hundreds. This kind of information is certainly no hidden secret even on Disney's website.
I'll take it one step farther and suggest that it's clueless people like this are the one mainly responsible for the disaster that is WDW. One quick google search and you'd realize the deplorable shape of this magical place called WDW.

So you save half the price per day if you get a 7 day ticket? I wonder how many people actually buy one day tickets.
Here's the one scenario I could see where where buying single days was less expensive for a short visit.

In January I went for 3 nights/2 full days and stayed at the Swan. I calculated my cost to buy a 1-day ticket with Park Hopper for the first day and a 1-day MK ticket without PH for my second day. The cost vs a 2-day ticket with PH was a few $ savings so I did the two single days option. Spent my first evening at ALK having dinner and exploring (skipped AK park itself this visit), the first full day at HS and then Epcot, all the 2nd full day at MK, and my last morning swimming at the Swalphin.

The small savings on the ticket price was enough to buy myself this year's souvenir trading pin.

Now that the price increase has hit,I'm even more glad I made my January visit. I wanted to 1) use legacy FP one last time to maximize my rides and 2) visit while the parks were less crowded. I might go again next year but the ticket price and limit of 3 FP per day in one park makes it much less likely. I will probably wait a few years and see if the parks get improved. Not very hopeful…

i hate to say it...but at 100 bucks a day you keep the people that you don't want out of there. I live in pittsburgh and it takes 25 min to get into our theme park through metal security gates, bag checkers and other fun stuff and they have 1/100th of the guest that disney does. If you were selling tickets for 10 bucks you would see people in their jammies walking around mainstreet with their butt cracks blowing in the wind...just saying.

No one is asking for tickets to be $10. It would be nice if the prices were a little more in line with what inflation should be, however.

At what point do they just switch to a pay-for-FP model (keeping it free for deluxe guests)? It seems the only way to quickly monetize the system, which is what Wall St. is going to demand sooner rather than later.
Disney simply cannot monetize MyMagic+ explicitly right now while it's still in "test" (read this as "there continue to be lots of technical problems"), AP holders continue to be screwed over, and FP+ kiosk and return lines continue to stretch to obscene lengths.

This is why Disney is sticking us with an across-the-board ticket price increase.

MyMagic+ has turned into one big cf and they are absolutely desperate to be able to say something to Wall Street during the next quarterly earnings call.

I already can hear the words:

"The tremendous success of MyMagic+ allowed us to raise ticket prices at Walt Disney World."

:arghh:

No offense, but the first part is total BS. If the most loyal oldtime fans decide to not go (speak with their wallets), then Disney will just replace us with some rubes from New Jersey ... or a Mommy Blogger from Denver ... or an awkward fanboi from Atlanta ... or some Brits who would be considered trash here, but are middle class there ... or some Brazilians etc ... Folks who have either no clue the product is stale or have a mental condition where they are addicted to it (like some folks and food!) or have Disney lifestyle businesses.

So, no, speaking with your wallet and not visiting doesn't harm them (not saying it may not be the right choice for some, though).

UNI will go higher than MK. Take that to the bank.

But this increase was/is all about MM+ and making the next quarter's numbers look good.
BRITISH TRASH NO LIKEY PRICE INCREASES AND MAGIC WRISTBAND... hmm, I guess I'll drop the DVC membership, my shares and throw those college program ears away. If anyone needs me I'll be in Disneyland Paris with my other European brethren. :cautious:

Next week we are on site for 4 days. Buying 1 day park hoppers because that's all we need to see all 4 parks and I can say will 100% certainty it will be the last time we go until there is something significant, that is star wars related. It won't matter. The families of sheep will keep coming in droves until Disney is priced out of their range too.

If I were to re-new my annual pass I would be paying an extra $2.13 per month for each ticket. I had already sent a long letter to Disney about their raising prices of food, diminished quality of customer care, diminished quality of food, the cheapness of the merchandise, GAS passes, Mickeybands, FP(negative), and staff and management that just don't care anymore. Now the ticket prices up $25.55 for a renewal. The nail is really in the coffin!!!

Here I was foolish enough to think that I would have even gotten a response from WDW from my letter about their numerous changes that they have done recently. I may need to take the same letter and send it to Burbank to see if I can ruffle feathers up there since the WDW management doesn't care.

I've met several families who have stayed offsite who were unaware of this benefit. The worst...a woman who took her family for 8 days. They bought single day tickets each day upon arriving at the parks. She looked sick when I showed her how much she could have saved.
That's called ignorant traveling. I'm going on an expensive vacation I'm going to do zero research. And if i do I'm definitely not going to price anything out. And if i do I'm not going right to the official web site.

This appears to be an across-the-board ticket price increase.

I took a quick look at the numbers.

Base MYW tickets are up an average of 4.5% this morning.

Disney is doing this now so they have something they can talk about at the next quarterly earnings call, rather than Iger embarrassing himself with another "I can't quantify it from a financial perspective yet" statement about MyMagic+.

Wow, that really was a bad earnings call.

My advice to you?

Buy your tickets now.

At Universal.

So you can enjoy what promises to be the most amazing theme park expansion in Orlando in years.

At this point I think the only thing that could save WDW would be for Disney to sell the parks division to someone interested in running theme parks. Unfortunately that doesn't seem very likely; Disney would rather squeeze the division dry.

No long-term view at all. Management isn't looking more than two quarters down the road. :(

Although I don't like raising ticket prices at all either, it is still cheaper than a lot of other entertainment options out there. I think another poster here once said it is still cheaper than seeing a 2 hour Broadway play, or a 2 hour concert for a big name star, or a lot of 2 hour sporting events.

Also, there is inflation to consider. The dollar ain't what it used to be. Still sucks though to have to pay more. But I am not surprised. A bit upset maybe, but not surprised.

the capacity's of the events you listed are often much lower...and are "limited" hell even if its baseball you can only go see the sox play when theres a game....even if theres over 100.....WDW is 24/7 so thats not a fair comparison.

Looking at the WDW website, it seems the no expiration option is gone...
They took the "no expiration" option off the website last year.

You have to call and ask for it to get it. It is still being offered as of this morning.

The updated incremental prices for the "no expiration" option are:

- 2 day: $40
- 3 day: $50
- 4 day: $100
- 5 day: $160
- 6 day: $210
- 7 day: $250
- 8 day: $270
- 9 day: $295
- 10 day: $340

A fully loaded 10-day MYW ticket with the hopper, water parks, and no expiration options comes to $830.70 with tax.
