Ticket Price Increase - Feb 2014

i hate to say it...but at 100 bucks a day you keep the people that you don't want out of there. I live in pittsburgh and it takes 25 min to get into our theme park through metal security gates, bag checkers and other fun stuff and they have 1/100th of the guest that disney does. If you were selling tickets for 10 bucks you would see people in their jammies walking around mainstreet with their butt cracks blowing in the wind...just saying.

Yup, those middle class families where the parents are teachers, police officers, nurses, servers, etc. That's the riff raff you need to keep outside the gates!

Seriously, though...they are fast pricing themselves out of the solidly middle class demographic (if they haven't already). How many families now only come once a decade when in the past they came twice?

Many of WDW's bread and butter customers are too damn afraid of crazy California to visit DLR. They are never leaving what they believe is the best place on Earth for some inferior place where the people may speak a different language and the food and customs may be different. Yes, I am saying that many WDW guests are total Walmart trash. And that's just how Disney likes it.

As a native Californian I am shocked to hear how many people have such inaccurate assumptions about the state. They have never visited and won't because of it's political or social leanings. They skip one of the worlds great gems like San Francisco because they think it is nothing but same sex couples walking around making out and smoking pot. They refuse to visit DLR because they could never spend money in such a liberal sinful place. (exact phrase I was told.) Go to another country where (gasp) not everyone speaks English, forget it.

I have asked a few times for email addresses to send my concerns to. Can anyone help me and possibly others who want to send a few emails about this?

Although traditionally the mantra of "Speak with your wallet" would work, sadly in the case of WDW, it just wont apply. You can stop going, thats fine, thats pretty much what they want. As spirit has said, there are many more international customers who will gladly fill your spot. Those with lower standards, bigger budgets, and longer itineraries. You want WDW to hear you? Stop being lazy...you all post a lot here, take some of that energy and WRITE/CALL THE COMPANY ITSELF. Some of you on here are FANTASTIC at arguing, but your targets are misplaced.

When is Iger out?

EDIT: I didn't see anyone posting this on here, but did you also see that the hopper and waterpark went to $60 each instead of $55... and if you do the hopper with waterpark its $86

What's troubling to me is each company can point down the road to the other and claim that market forces are raising the price. But the lock-step increase that will surely follow up I-4, supposedly driven by an open market, at what point do these increases stop behaving like the free market and start to resemble cartel style price fixing?
(Not a conspiracy theory, just feeling "used".)
The lock step nature is the free market. This is how pricing works. One organization raises prices, all others follow. Except in theme parks, I have never seen increases not stick.

Let's not forget that the Cast Member union has begun poking Disney Execs for a Cast Member raise. Do we really think Disney will pay for that. It's going to come from us.

At the rate of price increases Disney Parks will be similar to attending a major sporting event; only affordable by high income families and corporations who hand their tickets to employees. The math doesn't lie...It's bound to happen.

Um, all of it comes from us. Not just the raises.

That's exactly my family. I am a teacher and my family is right in the middle of middle class. We have been going every summer since 2005 with my two daughters and in 2011 we had our son. I had always believed that I would continue to share Disney with him every summer like we did with our daughters, but that dream is coming to a halt very quickly. It breaks my heart to think that he will not have the memories like my daughters do of going to Disney when everything is real to them. And I will not have the memories of seeing him believe everything is real. But this is quickly becoming a vacation I can no longer afford every year.

Not only do the ticket prices make me sick, but this entire Fast Pass+ is giving me sleepless nights. I know what it is like to travel in the summer, the heat, crowds, and our favorite tour groups (remember I am a teacher so only peak times for me). But we did it because we loved our favorite spot on Earth. We knew how to work the parks to get the most out of our trip. We always get to the parks at opening when it is cooler and stay only until lunch. Then head back to the resort to swim and then go back to the parks in the evening when it is cooler. We also knew how to use the old fast pass system to our advantage. My husband would run to Soarin to get our fast passes, and I would head to Test Track with the kids. He would meet us and we would ride, then go on a ride or two before using our Soarin fast passes, but we would always get another fast pass before going on Soarin. As soon as that time says you can get another pass, we were getting a pass, we never waisted the opportunity. Some days if the times fell right we could get on Soarin and Test Track twice in a day. Now with this new system, I am afraid once a day, if that, is all we will get to do with the "E" Ticket rides. When I look at the categories, I can't believe I am waisting face passes on rides like Nemo and Spaceship Earth, even in the summer these rides never have a line. Now I need to pay more for less of the rides we enjoy.

I really think this will be our last trip to Disney for a few years, unless I am surprised this year with how the new system works. But with all the news I am hearing about Fast Pass+ and these new prices, I am not hopeful.

OMG I bet she was. As much as I feel sorry for her I also blame her for not doing ANY research at ALL.

One simple Google search would have saved her hundreds. This kind of information is certainly no hidden secret even on Disney's website.

I completely agree. It's been a couple of years, but I want to say they even had 2 people in their party who could have qualified for military discounts as well. They were a group of 8 (if memory serves correctly), so some simple research could have saved her a considerable amount of $. While I definitely felt pity for her wallet, I felt more for the two kids in the group ...since she failed to research pretty much everything. After dropping the ticket price bomb on her, she was also shocked to hear that fastpasses were included in the price of her tickets and that there were things like character dining she could have booked prior to travel. It was a simple case of a very intelligent & well educated person assuming a trip to WDW required little to no planning.

Same feelings here. While WDW advertisement implore one to come and be a part of the "Test", the idea of a test goes both ways. If my experience this summer fails MY test, it will be time to explore other opportunities.

This is a pretty big price hike...early in the year too. I just bought 7 day park hoppers for the grandkids that I am planning on upgrading to AP's...Just unbelievable. I really wasn't expecting to see a price hike this soon.
