What do you mean? Disneyland is often cleaner than the museums, which are often dusty or dirty, or glass cases are fogged up and covered in handprints. Disneyland is clean, most litter is picked up almost immediately, and the glass is cleaned multiple times daily. If you're talking about crowds, Disneyland crowds (other than Fantasyland/Toontown lol) are often lower than those at the museums because it's bigger with more places for people to go.

For sure Disneyland is often operated better than WDW as of recent decade. That was not the point. Walt's quote featured Disneyland because that is all there was.

But try visiting the Smithsonian's.

I don't think Walt meant cleanliness with museums.

Musuems now more than ever rotate exhibits, update exhibits.

at WDW. Carousel of Progress is still running the 1994 show with John's hand falling off. Water rides have boats sinking and Disney's theme parks have dragons catching on fire on both coasts. Charging you more for less etc...
The museum quote, like many quotes for Walt is only used when corporate wants to continently do something, but not necessarily adhere to.

What museums are you going to!?

A visit to the Disney Family Museum could give someone many ideas of what Disneyland could be! :)

I think that Disneyland Park should be a museum - certainly anything that remains from Walt’s time. Within reason and practicality of course.

The guy was fine with nostalgia and revisiting anyway. Anyone who uses that quote the way they tend to in company and on these boards forget that the most famous first land you ever entered through is based around a rose-colored version of the past of the man's(and many other's) childhood.

Main Street USA in concept is a living museum of American Spirit optimism.

Agreed. I also felt like the quote was about wanting to plus the park, not radically change it. For example, he wanted the jungle cruise to change and get better. The additions and changes they have made to jungle cruise are a perfect example.

Guys, come on! Walt Disney would LOVE everything that they were doing to the parks right now! He knew things couldn't stay the same! Companies have to evolve just as times change! Nobody understood that more than Walt Disney! 😉

Guys you realize if they didn't change things there'd be no reason for anyone to go back? It'd be a one-and-done if they didn't change things. Go, ride things, and if they don't change, why go back and ride them again?

1971 Disneyland was already well visited and people flooded to WDW's Magic Kingdom in early months after slow roll opening to check it out. They were actually upset it was not more of the same.

People have expectations. Things can be enhanced, but they like the quality they like.

And some things are staples.

Things should change, but also, the company uses it to its advantage plenty of times when they don't want to invest. See Carousel of Progress and Tiki room as great examples.

Retheming something that was already good and popular on its own accord is also not a good starting place.

Disney's bread and butter is balancing nostalgia. And has been since day 1.

Walt was not referring to change for the sake of change. He was referring to change that IMPROVES the parks. So if a concept fails, remove and replace it (halfway there on SGE…). But if a concept does work, just seek to improve it over time, especially as technology advances. Generally speaking, we see this at rides like Jungle Cruise, Mansion, Pirates, and in days of yore, ToT. Walt wasn’t saying, “please tear out Pirates of the Caribbean one day and replace it with a Tangled boat ride.”

I think he would have wanted Splash updates with improved effects over time. As we’ve seen, they have better AAs now than 30 years ago.

For sure.
I've always felt that Walt meant moving along with technology.
Adding to the parks.
As per your example with Jungle Cruise, he would have meant better animatronics, and other effects.
Not destroying the ride and replacing it.

And lastly, the nighttime lighting.

The lighting around the Bald Cypress trees seems final now, with a mix of blue and purple. This is undoubtedly the best it has looked after seeing them all in-person. This combo is the perfect brightness and looked gorgeous.

There are green fireflies in the trees as well that occasionally light up and are a perfect touch to the area, they really nailed the look on this section, including the water tower.

The orange on the water tower really makes it stand out, but isn't too bright. I love the combo between the blue and purple on the trees, and the orange on the water tower.

The light that was on the top tonight 100% seemed like a test. It was one big light sitting on top of Critter Co-Op aimed directly at the top and right side. I do not expect this to be the final look, especially since we saw many variations of the trees before the final look we have now.
The pink lights hidden within the water Lilles will look stunning in this light

Is the main part of the mountain going to be illuminated that brightly?

Very doubtful - I remember seeing Avatar lights test while at the Nomad Lounge - the trees were bright blue. They looked cool but also way too bright. I’m sure everything is being tested and adjusted right now.
