Apparently, Memorial Day is not impossible. I’d still characterize it as unlikely though. Empty logs and a functioning waterfall by then? Sure.
Not even CM previews then? I would think previews would start then with the expectation it’s open July 4 (?)

My guess will be December 2024 to be open to all guests.
And, yes, boarding groups will be needed.
Just discussed with this with Scott Gustin on my podcast.

I went with October 1st as a Before/After date, even though I'm aware that that the masses think it will be earlier. If we have learned anything in the last few years, Accounting and Marketing shouldn't be ignored with making these predictions. October 1st the start of new fiscal year. Of course summer bookings will be softer so a push to have TBA done sooner does make sense.

If they are truly going to open TBA on both costs, WDW version should be 5-6 months ahead of DL just from a closure perspective. If so, a June WDW/December DLP might fit nicely. Still, this would be a faster turnaround from Malestrom to Frozen Ever After IIRC.

In terms of your VQ point, I kind of doubt it unless they move 7DMT to Genie+.

No one under the age of 6 was scared of Brer Fox. Hell, even younger kids who've seen a Wile E Coyote or Sylvester cartoon wouldn't have been scared of him lol This isn't Haunted Mansion, Dinosaur or Tower, nothing about Splash's story elements were scary.

The scary thing was that you'd know you'd be a taking huge fall eventually. Tiana will still very, clearly show that to guests.
I don’t think Brer Fox was even supposed to be scary. An antagonistic force, sure.

The “scary” part is how they build up to the drop with the lift hill. Dark atmosphere, ominous and intense music, the taunting vultures, the tied up rabbit. It all enhances the feeling that most first time riders (and many repeat guests) already have. The pit in your stomach, then the thrill of the drop, and the relieved Celebration with the finale.

TBA seems to be making the drop “mystical and magical” which is a complete failure of that segment.

I’m sure they will be doing tests and previews by then. I have a hard time seeing them dragging their feet till Fall. The best chance of success this thing has is with a summer opening and I’m sure they know that.

If they use VQs, I can see them dropping them rather quickly like they did with Runaway Railway in DL. This thing has good capacity, it’s proven that for 30 years. It’s not a coaster. And the park is hurting without it in operation.

I am just guessing and I have little faith in them finishing anything in a timely manner, and rushing to hit a date will result in errors and problems.

Why should they try to open sooner rather than later? Folks show up anyway.

When it finally opens, I don’t see how they can avoid boarding groups initially.

Again, just my guesses.

TRON and Guardians have very good reliability and capacity, and yet we still have VQ's. I think it will stay at Tiana in MK for quite some time.

I would say that is almost a certainty.
Is there a sense of when it will open? I mean, the premise is that it takes place during Mardi Gras. So is February 13 too soon?

"Join Princess Tiana and jazz-loving alligator Louis on their journey through a shimmering bayou as they prepare for a spirited celebration during Mardi Gras season. Along the way, you’ll see familiar faces and make new friends as you’re brought into the next chapter of Tiana’s inspiring story."

While I get that, those aren't wet rides. There will be absolutely zero need for a VQ once the weather gets cold toward the end of the year.
I wouldn't be so sure about that. People on vacations, regardless of the temperature, are going to want to see the latest addition. I think there will be enough demand that the VQ will stay, but we'll see :)

Early summer appears to be absolutely earliest, but still nothing reliable, and it may actually come down to marketing decision like other recent additions.

I do wish they were going with Facillier for the lift hill, but I think it'll still be intense for anyone who's already scared of the drop.

Not saying it won’t be “intense”, but the surroundings aren’t going to reflect the emotions most are feeing, creating a dissonance. Does it ruin the ride? No, but it sure makes it feel less special.

I think it's easy to think something different from what we know will be worse/less special, but I think it's worth holding out hope based on something like Guardians in California. They kept the ride, changed the feel/tone of it, and it produced something different, but not necessarily worse/less special. Just different.

I'm hoping that the feeling of Tiana's final lift, even if not as foreboding as the one in Splash, evokes an equally strong feeling that is just as wonderful. Obviously the drop itself is the same, but the spirit of it will be very different, no doubt, but that hopefully that doesn't mean it'll be worse or less special.

Ofc, once people ride it, they'll have different tastes (I prefer ToT to Guardians), but I can see the value and equal specialness in both.
