If we’re lucky the rides not broken, they’re just taking down banners and adding more static figures to flush out the scenes.

The story is going to be hard to fix but I think the ride itself could be easily improved, the biggest complaint is empty space, add some static characters tucked into the bayou, some huts, etc and that empty space doesn’t feel so empty anymore. Much of what made Splash so engaging was birdhouses, doors to character homes, etc, stuff that could easily be added to TBA.
If they changed the shrinking segment to Facilier, as well as the lift segment - relatively easy to do since Mama Odie sends us there through projections - it would help a lot.
I seriously doubt however the today's Disney would actually add menace.
They are more about Nerfing everything out.

They use him all the time.

They didn’t use him here because they decided not to.
They didn't use him because he's problematic.

Using him for Halloween is a light investment as it is limited in its run and they can adjust if they get pushback. With a permanent attraction, they don't want another Splash situation where they work in a potentially problematic element and then have to redesign the attraction in another 10 years because the political and social issues surrounding the character.

You can disagree with their decision, but it's clear that they set out to exclude the character and it's not because Keith David was too busy to record dialogue.

This is all conjecture and made up conspiracy theory.

or it could be as simple as Disney merged parks and merch into the same department and dresses, dolls and plushies sell.
As they say exit through the gift shop

Realistically I'm sure it will be a perfectly enjoyable experience (well, when it isn't breaking down). I don't think people are largely going to ride and say they disliked or hated it.

Preferring Splash to TBA or feeling it is a downgrade is a far cry from saying that TBA is in a vacuum a bad ride.
I suspect it will be a lot like Frozen Ever After. Not necessarily a compliment or criticism.

I hear the fireflies buzz in tune to the music. That’s actually pretty cute.

Just reminding that this is not open to the general public...MAYBE we'll see more changes/fixes before it opens or things that are planned but not yet implemented (which makes Disney releasing an on-ride video very odd but also completely on-brand for their crap marketing team right now)

I'm hoping that DLR's team is seeing the reactions and able to make some adjustments. I know they have been able to fight for better quality due to the difference in visitors and their expectations.

This is what I keep coming back to, it seems the majority of the issues could still be rectified with modest prop additions and set tweaks like what happened to the mermaid rides after their opening.
They’re not gonna do anything of that UNLESS they think they’ll be accused of not putting full effort into it by the media

Which is the messaging game.

This is a management that closed a waterpark…let it rot…and is now putting prefab trailers next to it.

It closed an Epcot pavilion 15 years ago…and it still rots. They operate one of two waterparks in the summer.
They ripped up imagination and run what was meant to be a stopgap fix for 20 years.

They have other dead/empty show space empty when damn near every traveler verbalizes they need more for the prices.

This isn’t Walt and Roy here

How is he a problem, and Mama Odie isn't?
A less cynical take might be that it was part of the effort to de-emphasize the thrill element of this attraction.

Which makes sense given they want this to be a "princess" ride.

Keep in mind, this is the company that replaced Snow White's Scary Adventure with the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. (removed a scary princess ride and replaced it with a non-thrills coaster centered around the dwarfs)

And Remember, this used to be called Splash MOUNTAIN.

They've done a lot to reduce the apparent height of this "salt mound" and the final drop, along with it, from the outside. Removal of that tree stump, the change in the vegetation, the addition of both that water tower and the tiara atop it, all help to completely reverse the effects of perspective the facade was originally built around.

Inside, there is a story of absolutely no consequence. Now when you get near the end, instead of creepy looking vultures getting ready for your death as you start up that lift hill, it's a joyous moment with ole' Mamma kind of betraying the drop you're about to go down for reason's that seem to have more to do with an inconvenient ride-system theme retrofit and less to do with the story they came up with.

It seems like they've tried really hard to pretend this isn't a thrill ride - like they were fighting against the show building and ride layout they were given to work with for the kind of attraction they wanted to make.

Dr. Facilier was arguably the best part of that movie. As a character, he was far more nuanced and interesting than either of the leads. It was his "other side" animation they first showed to promote this movie before they even had a full trailer for it.

His absence couldn't have been a mistake or oversight. While other's observations and thoughts may or may not have merit, my take is, they were trying to make this as young kid-friendly as they possibly could to widen the appeal, especially among the spend-heavy princess brand segment.

If only they could have removed those pesky drops and that silly height requirement while they were at it.

Ok, I'll say something positive: while I believe the lyrics were written by AI with the prompt:
"A happy song about a party, consisting of Tiana from Princess and the Frog. Also the audience is a spice.", I think the background instrumentals are pretty good, but have nowhere near the amount of layers that Zip had. Why aren't they playing the same song after the drop? That was a genius design decision in the original ride, but here they shoved what, 6 songs into a ride that transitioned between 3 pretty flawlessly? The dynamic buildup after the drop, to the end of the ride is gone.

Utterly insulting to PJ Morton.

Just checked the Disney video again. The comments are getting even worse if that’s somehow possible.

They need to pull the video, this is going to start to be a massive PR hit.

I notice some bots there also ( you can tell because the comments are all similar followed by a string of emojis ) but they can’t keep up with the outpouring of anger and negativity.

Best thing Disney can do now is pull everything and pretend all is well.
I think the best thing Disney can do is own up to its mistakes and apologize to its fans. I think Dominos did a Campaign like that one time. Like “oops we messed up. We hear you, and we will make this right”
