No, it's not. Also objectively a flume ride in Magic Kingdom is always going to be popular with 95% of guests. They don't care if it's Tiana or Brer Rabbit.

That's true - my friend was chaperoning his daughter's Hugh school trip. Out of 140 kids not a single one knew who any of the characters in Splash Mountain were and were laughing at how cringy the scenes looked to them - but they really enjoyed the ride as a themed flume ride.

I had a completely different impression of the voided areas. To me, it felt like we were leaving the scene were everyone was singing and dancing to a deeper, quiet part of the forest where you could prominently hear the crickets, etc.

That was actually my favorite part of the whole attraction.

Your favorite part is the dark void? Says a lot about it.

Yeah I would rank it above Mermaid and the Tangled Bathrooms.

Just not having the projection faces I think this is better than Frozen Ever After.

How many other princess rides are there even at WDW? Am I just blanking on something obvious ?Is this actually the best princess themed ride (ride, not show or experience)?

Guess maybe 7DMT, thought not super about Snow White

Three people have already sent me the video saying this looks great! Yes, they are your average Disney fans, not the level you see on a lot of social media. Again, I think this ride is going to please a lot of people.
I rode splash twice. Once when I was 8 and then again when I was 18. When I was 8, I genuinely remember getting off thinking it was the most boring ride I'd ever been on, and it was painful waiting for the big drop. When I was 18 I appreciated the bountiful amount of animatronics but something about it was just creepy to me. I don't have the same nostalgia that a lot of you seem to have for it. That said, I think the new ride is really beautiful, but not without flaws. There does seem to be significant gaps in between "scenes", but this video is also HEAVILY edited and doesn't really look around (the camera is mounted to the front of the boat). Overall, I am impressed and definitely think it's an upgrade.

This is true. But the juvenile dialogue will likely annoy the teens that are the target audience of the ride system.

Maybe it’ll turn into a tunnel of love type ride for some.

Also, it’s Disney. Expectations are higher.

I was a little annoyed by the dialogue myself, with that being said, while the flume system is typically targeted at teens, a part of this retheme was repositioning the attraction to attract a younger audience? No?

I'm overall happy with the retheme, I think it falls flat in a few places but I am waiting to see it in person to actually give a review.

Doesn’t matter why they posted it.

Consensus on a hyper positive Disney forum is that the ride is disappointment, especially when compared to Splash.

Since you like to pretend to be close to the top can you let Iger know to stop destroying everything?

Thanks !
I haven’t been able to watch the video, which is why I’ve yet to weigh in, but this is not a “hyper positive Disney forum”. Most of the threads here skew critical or pessimistic in tone, regardless of the topic.

It's far better than Mermaid. It gets docked extra points than it normally would because it's replacing a much better ride. I'm mad as hell that it's a replacement too (one that is most certainly worse than what it's replacing). But if you compare it against Mermaid specifically, no contest that it beats the pants off of it. To me anyway.

The quality of Mermaid's scenery and its figures (outside of Ursula) are mostly cheap looking trash. The lighting is also horrible, and everything looks extremely plastic-y. There's also a ton of exposed structural elements. Tiana has the decency to actually fill out its sets with detail from what i'm seeing. And the lighting appears to have been done quite well. Even if there are stretches that lack characters.

Frozen is also still much worse. Again, a ton of that ride has blank vacant unpainted black walls and/or poor video projection. Very exposed tall ceiling structures too. Tiana's video projections of characters also suck, but there aren't quite as many of them by comparison as Frozen has. 90% of the ride is comprised of narrow empty corridors with flat blank walls and barely any props or characters in them. The ice even looks bad, just opaque painted flats instead of something that should have been transparent and refractive. And in Epcot's case, they also have those hideous face projections.

I love it. I agree that splash might have been a  tiny bit better, but I absolutely love it. Stunning lighting, the screens look to blend in well, the story is understandable to me, and the music is great. I love it. Granted, MMRR is also one of my favorite rides on earth, and I enjoy FEA, so take my opinion with a grain of salt

You'd be surprised PlutoFan, there is some insane talent on these forums and those outside of WDI.
You should see the things other parks build and work on...
Oh I don’t doubt that there are some that do work in some of those professions and I am aware of what other parks are building. But I will bet dollars to donuts that those complaining the loudest are not involved in anyway other than being Disney (or parks in general) fanatics.

Personally, I am amazed at shear number of expert ride designers in this forum. The untapped expertise is absolutely astounding. The fact that Disney or any other theme park has not snapped up these visionaries is sad indeed. Instead, this vast wealth of talent is left behind keyboards to pontificate their bottomless knowledge to other fanboy experts. In fact, the number of experts in all areas should have Disney (and Universal) combing this webpage for the obvious talent. Why we have experts here in ride & theme park design. Experts in transportation and infrastructure design. A wealth of hotel & room experts along with culinary/restaurant visionaries. Not to mention the wealth of talent regarding costumes, security, finance, management and horticulture. Job offers from major theme park operators should be arriving anytime now.

In the end it is just individual opinions. My opinion means no more than anybody else's opinion. And vice versa. Of course, if Vegas was taking odds when this project began as to which of those here that would end up disliking the ride based on early posts, I could have put my kids through college and paid off the mortgage. Disney is not perfect and has certainly made their share of missteps which I do not agree with of like. But those are just my opinions, it doesn't make anything wrong or right. If somebody does not like this retheme, that is fine. If somebody loves it, that is fine as well. I guess I cannot understand the deep feelings some have for a theme park ride. Good for them, I just can't comprehend getting so worked up over a ride. In the end, it is just a theme park ride and the change has absolutely no bearing on my life good or bad. If I like it, I will ride it. If I don't care for it, I won't ride it. And life will go on.
Have a magical weekend everyone.
This is a forum of theme park enthusiasts, so of course people are passionate and worked up about it. Disney is a happy place for many. So to see a change you feel is negative, of course is disappointing.

I've counted them the best I can:

22 total including the 4 frogs on the bottom front (which have the most limited movement).
Now that we have a clearer video (in 4k too), can finally do a recount:

Originally, I miscounted the critter band on the second level of the building. I originally had 3 when there's 4. There's actually 2 of them in the middle! But for the critter band on the left side, I double counted the Otter since he stretched so far which made it seem like 2 separate figures.

So in the end, the count of 22 moving "figures" in the finale was accurate.
Obviously the number of true AA's may vary to some (depending on your definition of an AA) as some of them just have very limited motion, hence I just used the term moving figures.

Yeah, if you remove Splash from the equation and look at this as a new build, I'm not sure how you could think Frozen Ever After or Little Mermaid were remotely comparable.

To be fair, they are a C and D and this is an E, but the issues with FEA and Little Mermaid are not due to their ticket status.

I'm disappointed in Tiana -- had relatively high hopes from the information they'd released -- but it's a much better ride than either FEA or LM. Those are just outright bad attractions.
