Does “ingenue characters” refer to the early princesses?

Early princesses and princes. Even outside of Disney where the young lovers were often painted in broad strokes and the side characters or setting help differentiate the stories. Writers have been pushed by society to find better female voices, but also to make characters of any gender to be developed beyond a romantic trophy to be chased.

I think the early princesses get a bad rap. Cinderella in particular is a spirited young woman with real dimension to her character.

I disagree, but that is totally fine. I do really enjoy the 2014 Broadway version of Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella.

I remember circa 1998/1999 being a Junior in high school and just wanting to find a video of Splash Mountain on the internet. All I could find was a tiny little grainy 10 second snippet on the Disneyland website. I think they had a little video snippet of every ride that you could click on. Crazy to think that 25 years ago if you wanted to see a video of an attraction that meant you had to have brought a camcorder on the ride and filmed it yourself. Or watch the Disneyland version of Disney Sing alongs.

The marquee signage would look loads better if the "beanstalk" posts were instead Frontierlandesque wooden posts maybe in the same color family as the Tiara tower? I get what they were going for (especially now that's it's known we shrink within the attraction) but it's so dang ugly!

Clearly, this attraction shines brightest at night. Is it worth visiting during the day? lol An interesting departure from the old Splash days were it was walk-on most nights. I think the opposite might be true for TBA. No denying that pic looks purdy.

That’s because the old WED guys came from animation and then passed down their knowledge to the next generation and so forth. I think what we’re seeing now is current imagineers overly concerned with or relying on tech as well as the fact that at some point the knowledge just wasn’t passed down. Or perhaps the knowledge was not respected or absorbed.

Was it ever confirmed that the water cannons were done for? It's a cute effect at night but the kinetics of the splash during the day will really be missed. I know it's been said before that the fence is supposed to hide the pumps for the splash effect, so it seems odd they'd keep the fence without maintaining the splash.
