I can't think of a second date to guess so I'm just gonna guess Disneyland's date. The week of Thanksgiving, maybe that Monday. Kids are on break, we've been hearing November, it all just makes sense

im really hoping your guesses for 1st july are right. im travelling from the UK and i went on splash mountain in 2000. so although not the same it has memories for me i will now have with my kids

I'll stand by my prior bet of no later than Juneteenth. No actual idea though.
Supposedly the media and social media influencer invites have already gone out for the days immediately prior to Juneteenth.

I just don't remember if they typically have AP/DVC previews before media day or after. (Or if they are even doing them at all?)

Just seems very odd that there is no date yet for the general public.

Depends on if they treat this like FEA or other recent attractions. FEAā€™s official opening date was announced about a month before it opened in June 2016. FEA, also to my knowledge barely had any previews for anyone outside of media and maybe CMs.

I remember actually securing access to and booking trips months out to do the previews of GOTG, ROTR, and FOP.

Many possibilities for why this could be happening, likely mostly due to construction not being complete. There has even been speculation that the ride will open with unfinished elements, just to try to salvage the summer season. (I'm not talking about scaffolding or construction elements in show, but maybe not all the AAs or effects or show scenes are completed or installed)

Thatā€™s what USH did with their Jurassic World retheme. They rushed to open it with incomplete effects and some temporary placeholder scenes, and months later they closed it for its first annual refurb and finished it. I hope Disney doesnā€™t take this route, as the stakes are extremely high here. USH got some pretty lackluster reviews from people who thought that the opening version of Jurassic World was the final, permanent version, and Disney needs people to be impressed or face even more bad press

I think TDO knows how crucial this is that it's all the way done and in full, final show mode for the grand opening. This is replacing, like, one of the most famous rides ever. They know how insanely important this is - if it isn't complete, the criticisms will be strong and the press will be bad, given what it's replacing. I hope they don't open it incomplete, but luckily many insiders, and the press that have visited WDI, have said that all the animatronics we're seeing in the promo videos now are for Disneyland, as all of them are supposedly already installed in Florida.

I don't think Disney cares anymore about this, they just need the ride opened. The summer bookings are not good and this ride opening sometime in Summer 2024 certainly didn't move that needle. (No one is booking trips just to see TBA) But maybe it can be partially salvaged with locals filling some of the gaps by getting this open asap.

A handful of great AA doesn't mean anything if the ride is boring. TBA is going to get bad word of mouth, whether it deserves it or not. Disney is probably going to do the only thing they can do and rip the bandaid off by getting it open and out as soon as they possibly can.

I know there are many in fan communities such as this one who dislike the very idea of TBA, but ā€œbad word of mouthā€ to me suggests public opinion, and I really donā€™t get the sense that the public at large is ideologically invested one way or the other in the retheme. If the ride is well done, I see no reason why it wouldnā€™t get good word of mouth.

It was a serious question.
Because what was there before was peak Imagineering and people had an emotional attachment to it, and nothing will change that. You see it here in this thread. Those sentiments won't change when the ride opens. (And this is assuming the ride is good, if it turns out to be a stinker....then oh boy.)
