Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

Thanks for explaining your position. I appreciate it.

I can see your point. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen credible rumors about TBA being light on AAs; I think most recent rumors are that it will have many.

I know what you mean about that stretch of the flume going by quickly. I believe It’s possible they could slow things down for the DL version (though I hope not).

But if the story needs some element there to work well, I don’t think it will have been a poor use of resources to enclose it.

No problem.

I don’t think slowing down the log is an option.

Splash Mountain at Disneyland had 103 AA’s. Even if TBA has 50 AAs which is very optimistic that’s a huge reduction and will be felt.

I forget. Has Disney announced that Mansion is closing for 8 months yet or is it still a rumor? It is kind of puzzling that they would choose to do this now especially during an era where they open lands/ attractions in phases. Maybe someone thought it would be wise to just bite the bullet and get the whole area done - Magnolia Park, train station facade, HM queue and Splash.

Anyway, those are two huge people eaters down. On the other hand maybe a lot of day guests will defer a visit until those attractions are up and running again? If I was paying for the day I certainly would. I’m predicting an extra slow summer at Disneyland.
It has not yet been announced by Disney that this will be happening. I could see it being reality, but it could just be a situation where people have jumped on it because they could picture Disney doing it.

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, as I haven't visited this thread in some time. And my previous posts here have been fairly optimistic about the ride itself and the subject matter, even if the communications on this ride from WDI interns ("Employee Owned Co-operative!") have been eye rollingly messy.

But I just realized how weak the box office was for The Princess And The Frog compared to the animated movies that came after it in the 2010's. Look at this chart, adjusted for inflation to 2023 dollars, and notice how weak the performance was for PATF. And there's no Brave restaurant (Haggis burgers could be the next new thing!), and no Tangled hair salon, and no Frozen ride, nor a Moana stage show, coming to Disneyland. Hmm....

Well, That's Interesting....jpg

Were you under the impression that domestic box office performance was the criteria they used to decide which IP to use in rides?

To save you a novel's worth of reading, the film's box office has been discussed extensively here. The most popular explanations for the paradox of it receiving a ride are somewhere between satisfying DEI or merchandising goals.

The Disney Princesses are, officially:

Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel, Merida, Moana, and Raya.

If they were going to pick a princess to base a ride off of, Tiana isn't a terrible pick considering so many of these princesses' primary job in their movie was to be rescued. Tiana is one of the few "modern" characters that actually controlled her destiny and did it by outsmarting the big bad. Why *not* base a ride off of her persona?

I know a lot of people will forever question why a Black princess from a movie about black characters gets a ride when the movie itself didn't perform as well as others, citing DEI or whatever, and they can take those gripes to their grave if they want... but from a business perspective I certainly can't blame Disney for chasing "princess" dollars with their new ideas.

Pocahontas would've made a lot more sense now that you mention it, at least for Walt Disney World.

Pocahontas will probably never get a ride given that the story it's based on is.....not great
And that's a good thing. I'd argue Pocahontas is the most offensive film in Disney's library.

I think everyone knows why they specifically went with PatF, especially when putting the origin of the Br'er critters into consideration.

You act like they’re still sticking to that theme.
They are though....Disney has had some parks waver here and there, but the castle parks have had the attractions fit the land that they fall into. If they are on a border, they can be absorbed by the neighboring land like Matterhorn, but we have yet to see an attraction that just flat out doesn't fit the land it is in. Both Splash Mountains are in the midst of their lands and nowhere near Fantasyland, where a Fairy Tale attraction would reside.
