No one thinks that's going to happen. Zero.

But people are allowed to be disappointed and suspicious of the new ride due to Disney's recent track record (ha, track record!).
People are absolutely allowed to share their thoughts and opinions. They just need to be prepared for said thoughts and opinions to be questioned and challenged.

I like the outfit, and feel optimistic the opening scenes of the dark ride portion will be very well done.

Will Tiana meet guests in that outfit? Because outside the first week and all the super fans meeting her I feel most guests won’t even notice that’s she’s a character, kinda looks just like another guest.

Kinda makes me a bit worried for the attraction too. Like to me that isn’t instantly recognisable as Tiana, I only know because I’ve been told.

“Regular” guests will likely have no problem catching on to the new Tiana.

Wanna bet Tiana will be in her usual princess attire at the end of the attraction?
I hope so, it’s the iconic look.

This got me thinking about the other Princesses and a lot of them have alternative costumes but I can’t think of any that aren’t iconic images from their movie, for example Belle has her formal gold dress but also meets in her blue dress, Anna has her formal green dress but also meets in her blue dress, I think Cinderella, Snow, Aurora, Rapunzel, and Merida just have their formal dresses, Jasmine is always in teal but sometimes a dress, sometimes the midriff, Ariel has her formal dress but also meets in her mermaid form, Mulan has her formal dress but also her warrior costume…

Is this the first time a Princess has been in the parks dressed in an outfit that isn’t directly from their movie?

I doubt it myself, some guests can’t differentiate Alice from Cinderella.

Especially within the ride where you have seconds to establish each character in the scene. If it’s not easily understandable who Tiana is, I’m interested how they convey that message within the few seconds of each show scene.

I can’t think of another example, but I think it’s a refreshingly good move. It instantly makes the character “have a life” instead of being stuck in one point in time forever.

That said, I’m fairly certain that Disney’s marketing is gonna make dang sure that the public is familiar with this look by the time the ride opens.

Preshow. Ride posters. Commercials. Possibly the TV show. And, of course, the fact that it’s called Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. It will be very, very, very easy to understand who Tiana is.

I’m certain that by the time the ride opens, the GP will be very familiar with the outfit.

I’m also guessing they’ll be selling the outfit in the park shops.

Well I certainly hope so but I have my doubts. As I said earlier I regularly see other guests get confused over which character is who while they’re dressed in outfits that they wear for their entire movie.

Is there a pre show for this ride? That’s news to me.
What about in 5 years time when there’s no more commercials and hype for this?

The general public is very wide. You forget a lot of people just buy a ticket to Disneyland and come without knowing a whole lot about what is going on in the parks.

And I’m not talking down about those people whatsoever. I’m sure my local regional park has forums covering it discussing every tiny detail in abundance. And I’ll turn up a random day and go on rides without a second thought.
