Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

The vitriol is on both sides, but the problem is that as it's Twitter, it's much larger on one side. Like, it got to the point where a special needs kid was bullied over it, because they were sad Splash was closing.
Like don't get me wrong, I was on the anti-retheme side, but that's really hard to be when my voice is blocked out by awful people. But the other side, which I agree with most outside of this topic? I'm 25 and mentally stable, but they are ferociously creative in being cruel and actually ruined my Friday night with some of their posts. If anyone understands toxic internet communities, it's me. But holy crap, Twitter has been an absolute cesspool.

Yeah, it's closed now and I feel ok about it. But for some who really loved the ride, didn't contribute to the Twitter chaos but decided to check it out anyway, they did not have a good weekend.

That's my 2 cents.
I guarantee you the millions of people who went on and love the ride and probably don't want it to change aren't evil in any way and probably just have good memories of the ride they've been going on for 3 decades.

I'd also think that the majority of the people that do want it to change have very valid points on it and aren't there to bully children.

The internet tends to bring out the most extreme people.

It's sad there are "sides" like this where it is implied both sides are the most extreme of each of their opinions.

Now if someone is in favor of the retheme are they seen as a child bully? If they are against it are they racist? That's the problem with grouping people based on their opinion. I'd think most people on either side of the argument are sane and composed.

It reminds me of how the Star Wars community was ruined when people called those that didn't like the new movies sexist. Suddenly criticizing a movie meant you were grouped into a hateful group of people, and then those that did enjoy the movies were all called social justice warriors.

With both myself and everyone else I talked to, none of our criticisms for the new movies involved gender at all, just storytelling.

Moral is, most people are pretty normal, the internet brings out the worst kinds of people and groups everyone together as part of their extreme takes.

You think they’ll eventually close it?
Hard to say. It won't be PATF themed for sure. Not sure that Disney will be able to convince them to close it unless Disney entirely foots the bill themselves...and OLC has expensive tastes. But then the removal of ZADDD from the musical loops there was not something I expected them to do, so who knows? I expect that the Tokyo version will be around at least another decade.

For me, if there's only going to be one Splash left in the world, Tokyo's being the last one is the best possible scenario, as I feel that Tokyo's Splash is easily the best one. So if anyone does feel like being crazy and going to Tokyo at least in part because of Splash, hopefully they will feel that it was worth the journey.

RIP to WDW's Splash, for me the "just right" of the Splash Mountains. Not overly wet like DL's, but not only sprinking the smallest of drops of water on you like Tokyo's. No single file log seating like DL's, but no weirdly tiny uncomfortable seats like Tokyo's. Somewhere in between the stark OG DL version and the extra-finished TDL version with the surrounding area. WDW's was a nice balance between the two. I will miss it, but I understand why Disney has made the choice that they did.

This post has me wondering what would TDL retheme theres to if not Tiana? Maybe Duffy the bear and friends? Zootopia?

Seems like something critter inspired would be heavily favored there.

They definitely seem animal-oriented.

I'm not sure if anything Zootopia has ever made it to TDR in any capacity.

Duffy and Friends are exclusive to TDS, so they're presumably out for anything at TDL.

Actually Duffy and his Friends are also available to see at Shanghai and Hong Kong complete with its own merchandise.

As for Zootopia's presence at Tokyo Disney Resort does shows and parades count? Because both Judy and Nick will be present for Tokyo Disneyland's 40th Anniversary Parade "Disney Harmony in Color! Parade" debuted this April. They appear for the resort's "Summer Blast" show during the Summer at the park's castle and "Club Mouse Beat" at the new theater in Fantasyland that opened recently. Does their current Easter Parade "Usatama on the Run!" count since the parade marked Nick and Judy's debut at the resort?

That is correct that Duffy is elsewhere in the Asia parks, but at Tokyo Disney Resort, Duffy & Friends are only available at Tokyo DisneySea.

In Japan, you cannot see them or buy any D&F merchandise outside of TDS.

Looks like Zootopia has crossed over at about the same level as SDL then, minus the upcoming land in China.

I rode Disneyland's Splash Mountain yesterday and just close the thing now and get on with the change. The ride is so broken down in so many parts.
It's sad seeing Tony Baxter's contributions being erased or deteriorating beyond what they should be. Indiana Jones and Splash Mountain have been neglected for almost a decade now it seems.
