Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

People are always idiots with wanting to be the last to ride, seen this all too many times, and these are for rides that were closing closing for the night, not permanently.

@Californian Elitist had a good story about a couple that always felt entitled to be the last to ride Peter Pan.

As for ride closures, we all know employees will be riding this well after tonights closure and are always the last to ride.

That's hysterical! What a bunch of weirdos. It's a log ride. At a theme park. That still exists in Japan.

I say this with all the love in my heart as a lifelong Disneyland fan... Get a life!

I think I know who you're talking about! They were an odd late-middle aged couple. The wife had a towering hairdo, not really a beehive, but sort of a very large bubble flip. It was huge. And defied gravity. Her husband wore sweaters, and always carried her large purse for her. You could just tell even from 20 feet away that they were odd. I used to see them in Disneyland on weekend evenings tottering around. @Californian Elitist tell that story and fill in the details! It's hilarious!

No kidding! As if the kids running the ride, and all their CM friends, aren't going to swarm this thing the minute Security kicks out the weirdos. I wish all the CM's riding Splash Mountain on its final ride a fun night! And then go to a late-nite bar in Fullerton and have some real fun!

That said, this ride will reopen as basically the exact same thing with the exact same ride track and vehicles, just with the singing chickens programmed with different lyrics. ;)

It's sad how some people who were fans of the ride defending it somehow went so far into defending the ride that they turned hateful, which only fueled the argument stronger for its closure.

I love the ride and am sad it is closing and was angry at the announcement and still see it as a money motivated move obfuscated by Disney pretending they care. But people need to move on.

I love Splash Mountain, old charming rides, classic Disneyland, and the works of Walt Disney's Films. I am against the closure because I don't like modern imagineering, both the rides they make and their focus on "story" and technology. How much projection mapping do we need?

I wish some of the other genuine fans of this ride knew that yelling at random people online isn't going to stop a bad company from making bad decisions, their trajectory was set long ago.

The group who demanded this ride be closed was TWDC. Seeing people blame others online and get into fights over this is just sad. People blaming people of color for a themepark ride they like closing is just beyond ignorant and offensive.

I think it would have been better if Disney waited for the Tiana announcement a month or so before they intended to close the ride.

Them announcing this 2 and a half years ago just allowed too much time for animosity to spread.

I rode it last week. Looked dark and sparse and I got completely soaked on the indoor big drop. I thought I might ride it again closer to its last days but I'm good.
I rode the WDW version a few months ago, and the show elements were in such poor condition, it was the worst experience I’ve ever had on a Disney ride.

Worse than when I rode California Screamin’ in the pouring rain. Or boarded the Matterhorn when I already had a bad headache.

Saw this on Twitter last night:

Given that I have a slight fear of animatronics, something like this would genuinely terrify me. It’s way too quiet and the static figures… No.

I literally had this conversation with my friend yesterday. She said she wanted to ride Splash before it closes here and I told her I got soaked the last time I went on. She advised me to bring a poncho for the big drop, but I told her I was already soaked prior to the big drop and would need an umbrella to shield me from all the water.

I feel like the last 4 years the water level in the Laughing Place area has been completely off from what it used to be. It seems way too high there and everyone gets drenched at that part and not so much at the drop. Feels like either an engineering error during a refurbishment (maybe when they redid the track) or something broke.

I hope they address this when it goes down.

The last to ride thing is so funny. Like anyone is going to care about you claiming to be the last to go on a ride for the night. Does anyone care?

The imagineers and contractors working on the new ride will be riding Disney World's Splash for weeks to come.

No guest will truly be the last rider.

That's so funny you know the exact couple she was talking about, were they rude in any way?

People have a weird obsession with being last alright. When the movie theater I work at was getting ready to drop Top Gun Maverick we actually had a handful of people calling to ask "Is Tuesday the last Top Gun day? I wanna be in the last show" I know it's not on the level of Disney fans wanting to be last but it's kind of funny

Granted I haven't been following this closely, but I've genuinely only seen vindictiveness and nastiness coming from one side online, and it's not from the fans of the singing bunnies and chickens ride.

Although I will say from the pro-Splash side I have seen an unbelievable level of denial even up until the attraction's last days.
The vitriol is on both sides, but the problem is that as it's Twitter, it's much larger on one side. Like, it got to the point where a special needs kid was bullied over it, because they were sad Splash was closing.
Like don't get me wrong, I was on the anti-retheme side, but that's really hard to be when my voice is blocked out by awful people. But the other side, which I agree with most outside of this topic? I'm 25 and mentally stable, but they are ferociously creative in being cruel and actually ruined my Friday night with some of their posts. If anyone understands toxic internet communities, it's me. But holy crap, Twitter has been an absolute cesspool.

Yeah, it's closed now and I feel ok about it. But for some who really loved the ride, didn't contribute to the Twitter chaos but decided to check it out anyway, they did not have a good weekend.

That's my 2 cents.
