Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

They need to remove the ZPD2DA license plate from the Roger Rabbit ride, too. And not just from the Anaheim ride either, but the Tokyo ride as well. I heard that they had removed Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah from non-Splash Mountain music loops as well.
No they don't. But since they're insistent on erasing any and all SotS references from the parks, they may as well lol. However, from my experience at WDW a couple weeks ago, I can confirm you can still find merchandise with the characters on it if you search hard enough. Seems like they're inconsistent with what they will and are too lazy to remove.

I honestly cannot think of an example where dread is not part of how a ride drop is presented. People adore the dread/drop relationship. Drops are supposed to be intimidating. That’s why they’re there.

We’re all overthinking this. The drop is scary. The new theme is going to appeal to the exact same crowd as the old theme; it will be no more or less family-friendly than before. The lines will be just as long, people who hate drops will still avoid it, and kids too short to ride will still cry until their parents buy them a plushie as compensation.

Maybe Facilier will appear as a tiny cardboard cutout looking angry in the background (the “Ariel Solution”).
This is the problem they faced with Mission BO. Taking a ride built to be scary and forcing it to be an adventure-themed attraction.

My guess is they do the same thing here and ignore the ride design and human nature and play yo the lift as an exciting rev up to a climatic splash down.

Disney used to try and marry design and rider psychology. Now, they are fighting against their design because it's cheaper and easier than designing a ride to fit the story they want the rider to experience.

Not really an assumption. He is not in the attraction. He is the main antagonist of the film and should be there. Half of the memorable parts of the film are he. It is odd that he is not. Scrutiny being inconsistent is also a fact in the company.
It is an assumption, since no one actually knows if he’s going to make an appearance in the ride or not, as Disney has given us crumbs regarding what the experience will be like, the plot, new characters and songs, etc. People are taking said crumbs and trying to build a whole gingerbread house with them.

This ride is not based on the movie, so I’m perplexed as to how you and others find it odd that there’s a possibility that Facilier won’t be in the ride. They’ve said, multiple times now, that the ride takes place AFTER the movie. This is not going to be a ride-thru of PatF.

The Temple of the Forbidden Eye is NOT the same temple that Indy explored in Raiders or any of the films, and yet there’s a giant rolling boulder.

A strong argument could be made that non-book report attractions should at least be “greatest hits in disguise” attractions.

Unfortunately I also think Disney has decided to not invent some way to include the “Friends on the Other Side” underworld in this new story, with a ghost Facilier, even though they easily could have. Missing the boat, I say.

I also think it’s odd that there is all this hand wringing over no Faciler, when nobody seems to care that (so far as we can tell) nobody is going to be turned into a frog!

It’s the PRINCESS AND THE FROG attraction! It’s like making a Rapunzel attraction and she’s the short haired brunette married to Flynn Rider version during the whole ride!!!

It’s like taking the worst of both the “WDI can invent new stories!” and “You must use IPs!” worlds!

Sigh… I’m sure it will turn out fine, it’s just silly some of these decisions they make.

The ride will have familiar faces. Good enough for me. I actually appreciate the creative liberties they’re taking with this attraction.

We ask for originality/creativity, we get it, and fans still have something to complain about. We don’t know if the boat has been missed yet, since, once again, we don’t know anything. Best not to assume.

It’s NOT a PatF attraction. And I’m ecstatic about the idea of Tiana, the only black princess, potentially staying HUMAN during the entire duration of the ride.

Because people have noticed that both times Disney-affiliated animated studios have made movies staring black characters (PATF and Soul), they spent most of their movies not as humans, which is not a problem that has occurred with characters of other ethnicities, or at least not so blatantly, and understandably that could be read to be questionable to their audience.

Even if that's not the reason, the fact that it takes place after the movie means that it doesn't make sense to make them frogs again.

I don't feel like anyone is particularly attached to Tiana or Naveen in their frog forms either. I've never seen PATF frog-form merch and I don't get the sense that it's an untapped market.

By far, the best parts of both films are the first acts when the lead characters are human (and alive). That goes for Brother Bear, too. The movie Brave turns into a 60’s sitcom once the queen becomes a bear.

B&tB has the opposite problem: Beast is entertaining and fun to watch through nearly the whole movie and then gets turned into Prince Generic.

I turned Brave off after the bear transformation scene. Haven’t finished it since.

Whatever their reason is they decided to do the sequel ride so the Frog's make no sense . Also I don't think there is a big untapped market for anything Princess and the frog related outside of Tiana In the princess line. Once this ride opens we should see some more but if anyone wants a Navine figure I think they will still be waiting. Maybe a few Funko pops.

If you are perplexed on thinking that they could not possibly creatively bring back a main component of the original film(arguably the most memorable since it was the great formula of an antagonist) than you are not that aware of how the themed entertainment industry's storytelling typically works. You can do this without doing a book report, and it usually works out to great success.

In theory they could have done a true book report ride with Tiana as the Narrator she's human on one side of the flume then the frog version appears during show scenes on the other while she's describing the events. But honestly that seems very clunky.
I'm not a fan of the food co-op idea but we shall see maybe it'll blow our expectations out of the water.

Please re-read what I wrote. A couple of posts, actually, as you are misunderstanding me.

Given that Disney has said that this will be a new story and not be based on the film, then, logically, I’m already expecting…not to see certain factors of the film make it into the ride. Do you, though.

Anyways, I’m go into continue to wait for Disney to actually release more details over time and not make assumptions.

So are you allowed to assume because when you do it you call it expecting?
