Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

There was a similar thread on Reddit about what you guys are talking about. Someone commented that Critter Country should just become the 100 Acre Woods. I asked how you reconcile the fact that the entrance to Splash/Tiana is in and facing the land. Got a weird answer about imaginary borders or something.

At least there's transitional walkways and tunnels with galaxy's edge. This guy was talking about separating NOS and CC like this:

I would be fine with Pooh getting rethemed (Could you imagine a cute little Rescuers dark ride back there?), but I tend to think the idea that Tiana's Bayou Adventure will be annexed by New Orleans Square is overblown. Disney hasn't given any meaningful indication that they're willing or interested in doing the work it would take to make the rest of Critter Country "work" in that scenario.

If the choice is between splitting Critter Country awkwardly down the middle and calling the fragmented area that wraps around Tiana's its own "land", or just letting Tiana's remain part of Critter Country since there will be plenty of critters within her ride and its proximity to New Orleans Square is enough to make sense of its placement without having to "move" the ride to NOS, I would think Disney will go for the second option. It doesn't help anything to make TBA officially part of New Orleans Square, but it would cause headaches with the sliver of Critter Country that would remain.

Fun Fact, though - if Tiana's Bayou Adventure did become part of New Orleans Square, that would make it the second Mountain at Disneyland to move from one land to another. Though that's a little dicey, since it seems they won't be regarding the ride as a Mountain anymore.

My friend was at Disneyland last night and he said Splash CMs were told that the rehabs for IJA and GRR had pushed Splash's close until July. Personally I think that's a little too late if they want to get Tiana in by 2024, but has anyone else heard something similar?

At that point might as well close it in late August or early Sept (right around or after Labor Day) and plan for a Spring 2025 opening.

I've heard May now. Which is crazy because we were all so sure it would kick the bucket by February 1!

So, presumably Florida's Bayou Adventure will open first? I had thought they would have wanted the two attractions to open around the same time frame.

I mean, there's always the chance Anaheim spends more to get it swapped quicker.

Of course, the wise thing would be to change Florida's first- leaving Disneyland's open- and see how the public receives the new version before they close Anaheim. Which would also leave it open to handle the additional crowds the 100th anniversary should bring. That would delay the transition a few years, but could potentially stop long term damage to the park if the new version is a dud.

I think it's more "Florida needs more work to transform it than California" if they want to get them both opened on time

That would be a great approach. They also don’t have to be married to Late 2024. They delay and cancel announced projects all the time with no shame. I guess it’s more important for them to have it up while Indy is down. The conversion for DL’s Splash also seems like it’ll be less work. Hopefully they don’t cut corners though to make the 2024 date.

There's no wait-and-see with the reskin. Tiana Mountain, coming soon to a Disney Park near you unless you live in Japan.
