Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

The Disneyland Laughing Place I haven't seen look decent since maybe 2011. Thats the last time I remember the jumping water, weasels popping out, and spinning boat working.

The entire ride looked the worst it has since it reopened in my opinion when I rode it on Monday.

So many lights out on critical show elements. Figures toppled over, contorted, or missing.

They fixed some of the sound issues though.

Even with the issues it's still one of the best experiences in the park.

So apparently all that "it's been canceled" talk was malarkey?

And no, I have no faith in them pulling this off. Especially not in just TWO YEARS. Disney World's Ratatouille ride took five years, and their Guardians of the Galaxy ride took six. I believe Mickey's Runaway Railway took four. How long has Disneyland's Runaway Railway been under construction? Disney currently builds at the pace of a tortoise. No way they're gonna be able to do two rethemes of two large, highly-themed, elaborate rides in just two years.

Also, I’m really hoping they rethink excluding Dr. Facilier from the ride.
Has it ever been officially confirmed that Facilier won't be in the ride? I know it's gonna take place after the movie, but still...
To me it just won't make sense storywise to have Dr Facilier on the attraction. As its suppose to take place after the events of the movie when he has already been dragged to the other side.

So unless they can explain why he is back from the other side it would be weird to anyone who watched the movie, at least in my opinion.
Isn't It's Tough to Be a Bug supposed to take place after A Bug's Life? If so, why is Hopper in the ride when he got eaten by baby birds in the movie? And if it's supposed to take place before the movie, why is he in the movie when he got eaten by a chameleon in the attraction?
The only issue would be how to address and or gut the Caverns and Burrow's. But that would relate to whatever story they are going with.
I still have he mental image of them stripping the Laughin' Place on animatronics, turning off all the lights, and sticking some tiny lightbulbs that are supposed to be fireflies around the room. Maybe stick one or two screens in there, too.
So there has to be some element of danger or conflict and I can’t see them inventing something new over the popular bad guy from the original film. I guess it could also be the “ghouls” that pulled him to the other side but even that is watered down non sense.
My guess is that it'll just be the voodoo spirits showing up just before the lift hill to mess with us for no reason. It'll come the heck out of nowhere, no buildup or foreshadowing whatsoever, just them showing up to torment us because that's how they get their kicks.

It sounds cringy... But what if Mama Ode does it? The tree is her house in the concept art. (Which... now that I mention it, even with the Loa/Facilier that is odd...why are they taking us up TO Ode... but anyway)

What if the plot is similar to the movie and guests are trying to find her home in the bayou for some reason or another. I could even see her and the flamingos singing the "Are you ready?" part in a less foreboding tone. Especially with modern Disney. I could elaborate on it as it's something I thought about a while back.
Ah, jeez, I could actually picture them doing that. Especially with how afraid Disney is of having "scary" things in their princess rides nowadays. There's no Giant Ursula scene in the Little Mermaid ride (though that was probably also because they ran out of money). Gaston's not in the Beauty and the Beast ride at all.

Yep, appears it was just "wishful thinking" on the parts of those that "heard" it was cancelled.

Those are all new builds, which takes Disney forever to complete. But they have done retheme's of attractions in less than 2 years before, for example Malstrom to Frozen.

Has it ever been officially confirmed that Facilier won't be in the ride? I know it's gonna take place after the movie, but still...
One would assume if he was going to be included that he would have been mentioned in the original announcement, if not any of the "updates" since then. So with him not being mentioned, unless its a "surprise", it has to be assume he won't be part of the retheme.

As far as I'm aware the show doesn't occur within a specific part of the Bug's Life "timeline". Especially since the attraction in AK opened PRIOR to the movie being released.

The face she makes after saying 2024 says it all. 😬 Ooops! I just said that didn't I? Her demeanor then shifts to a corporate overlord watching damage control and she steers the discussion to a close with great haste.
I'm not getting a wince from this. It looks like she's just breathing in through her teeth. She seems to be constantly making the 😬 face throughout the clip.

Malestrom wasn't as big or elaborate a ride as Splash Mountain is.
True, it might not be as big or elaborate but it shows that when they want to they can retheme an attraction in a relatively quick amount of time. Its not like a from the ground up build like the ones you mentioned which Disney tends to take forever on.

I'm sure she was given that year at some point, but I'd be amazed if Disney gets it done that fast.
Disney claims that development for this started in 2019. So it means that either what you are saying is correct, that 2024 was the original planned date and was given to her early on and she still thinks that is the planned date, or....because it has been in development since 2019 most of the work is done on show elements and set pieces and it will only take 2 years for install and testing.

Disney will probably close the ride soon, but drag the construction process out several years. If they take too long, they could reopen the ride in 2029 — celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Princess and the Frog and the 40th anniversary of the OG Splash Mountain.

It sort of has to be done in 2024, otherwise they've got a flagship E-ticket attraction sitting behind construction walls for all or part of the 70th Anniversary season.

I doubt they close it any earlier than this coming January, though, so whatever they do will have to be done in ~24 months. I understand the pessimism, but even at Disney speeds a major refurb should be doable in that time frame. SWGE, with 1.5 entirely new rides and ride systems was ready to go in just over 3.

Apropos of nothing, and in light of absolutely nothing she mentions here about line skipping, does anyone know if Disney's holding auditions for any Princess Voiceovers?
Sorry, you apparently have to be a celebrity (or at least as famous as Kristen Bell or Mandy Moore) to be a Disney Princess voice now. Then again, they did get a newcomer for Moana...
Disney claims that development for this started in 2019.
That was a blatant lie.
