You can keep saying and believing Disney's claim that it was in the works for a year all YOU want, still doesn't make it true.
I never posted whether I believed them or not. But facts are facts that there is ZERO evidence that has come out to back up your numerous claims that it was a "blatant lie". And in this age of social media leaks about everything we would have heard by now.

Personally I've always believed that Disney took that specific moment in time as an opportunity to announce the project. Whether they had been planning the project for a year prior or not has honestly never really mattered to me.

As part of the creative development process, conceptual design work is well underway and Imagineers will soon be able to conduct preliminary reviews and develop a timeline for when the transformation can start to take shape.

Given that two years have passed and we haven't seen any construction or even been given a timeline, I think it's safe to characterize Disney's claim about "conceptual design work" being "well underway" as a bit misleading.

I had originally been looking forward to the rideā€™s PatF retheme because the movieā€™s storyline and music fit the flume layout so perfectly. I thought a scary Dr.Facilier rework of the Laughng Place and climbing the big lift to the ā€œAre you readyā€ chant would be fantastic. And who knowsā€¦ maybe thatā€™s still ā€œin the cards.ā€

But the idea of the storyline centering around ā€œLouis lost his trumpetā€ just sounds so stupid and unimaginative. As others have pointed out: Just *what* is the intended audience for a project that combines the scariest drop in DL with a Playhouse Disney-level plot?

Is it for five foot tall toddlers?

Is it for adult Disney addicts with bottomless bank accounts who keep spending no matter how little effort the corporation puts into new offerā€”

Oh.

Allow me to play devil advocate for a moment but I think it's possible that's 2019 was when the Splash - PatF idea got past the "Oh that costs too much" filter and into the "Maybe someday, if we have no other ideas" category but then got shoved to the forefront because of everything that happened in 2020 even though they had absolutely nothing figured out about the idea

I'm sure she was given that year at some point, but I'd be amazed if Disney gets it done that fast.
If they truly are shooting for 2024, assuming the closing after the summer ends this year (Probably early 2023 close to avoid XMas crowds), that's only a little under a year to get the ride shut down (Which they could tmmrw in all honesty), demolish the sets, build any new ones, install the new AAs, program the AAs, and prepare it. Either they're gonna work at light speed, or half-a**

I'd be amazed if Disney has this done in 2024. It's taking them more than 3 years to make some Moana water fountains in Epcot.

That being said we could be seeing a half on the scale of Incredicoaster or Journey Into Your Imagination. I wouldn't put it past current management.

I mean sure anything is possible. And we can all come up with our own theories about what happened and in what timeline. But still no proof that it was a "blatant lie" as has been claimed.

That is making a huge assumption that zero work has been done, and that they only get started on the project when Splash closes. In reality its very likely if the timeline of a 2024 reopening is true that they have been working behind the scenes on things like the new AAs and their programming.

I have a feeling Disneyland could be done by 2024 since there's less work. Even then Disneyland is automatically bound to be the inferior version just because it has less to work with.

Realistically if this ride comes out and first impressions are not great, I wonder what Disney will do. I guess they always have another attempt at it, but we are talking about an insanely expensive attraction and simultaneously probably trying to impress Tokyo Disney and just hoping they give in, lol.

Considering that so many people have suggested having the voodoo spirits replace the Burrow's Lament scene, I'd honestly be surprised if Disney DIDN'T do that. Even if Facilier's not in the ride and his "friends" are just attacking the riders for the heck of it.

Great, a ride about a missing trumpet first half with a scary 2nd half. The perfect ride that is too childish for teens and adults and too scary for children. WTG Disney!
