Three Or Four Day?

Is it worth the extra day while just at sea? Are there any real extra events that make the extra day at sea worth it? I have never been on a Disney Cruise or any cruise for that matter. With that being said, I am a complete, utter, top-tiered, and oblivious NewB. It would be the ladyfriend and myself.

Agreed. Our first cruise was a 3-day and it felt like it was over just when it was getting started. I don't think there's such a thing as too long. If the price is right and you can score the extra day, do it. You won't be sorry. I hear at-sea days are filled to the brim with activities and things to do. If you can do the 4-day, do it!

Do the extra day. If you don't you will regret it. I promise.

When it comes to a Disney Cruise more is always better.

Always more on a cruise. I am about to embark on my third 14-night transatlantic cruise this weekend (on Celebrity ... did Disney in 2010 and NCL in 2008) and I now can't ever imagine taking a cruise less than seven nights.

To me there's little difference between 3 or 4 ... as soon as you get on, it's over. But four is still a bit better.

I'm just about relaxed by Day 3 ...

I used DVC points to do a 4 day cruise in 2010 and 3 day cruise in 2011. Both were definitely too short to really enjoy the ship and fully relax. From now on I will only do at least a 7 day cruise. Looking into trying out a different cruise line though, maybe Royal Caribbean.

Yes do the extra day. We did the 4 day and the above is how we felt about the 4 days!! Just way to QUICK!!!

In that case I will look into the four day. I have some extra DVC points I have to burn so it really is not a big deal to do four. Thanks for the input!

Don't make me reconsider it and wait until I can do a seven. :brick: haha

Everyone is different and you've never cruised ... also price/ship/time of year all factor.

But I am very much a proponent of the seven-day minumum when it comes to cruising.

Not to mention if you're talking 3 or 4 days, you really aren't going anywhere, so it's all about the ship. I love being on board, but I also like getting off at a new port and exploring too.

Oh, and got your note and will be in touch when I know my plans for VA/NC in May! :)

We were nervous about doing 7 nights our first cruise, just in case we "hated" it. However, 3 nights seemed so short considering we would probably "love" it.....so we opted for 4 nights figuring it was the safest choice.
We've now done two 4 night cruises and are booked for a 7 night next year :D
I believe for a totally newbie, like yourself, four nights is good. If all goes well, it will feel way too short.

Having just returned from my second three night cruise, they are just not long enough. When you start to feel settled in, it's time to get off!

4 nights is a little better. That extra day at sea really makes a big difference.

5 nights was not bad. I'd definitely do that again.

7 nights is great. You really have time to relax AND do a lot of fun things.

11 nights was the best. The morning of the last day I always wake up sad that it's almost over. When we had essentially 12 days, that last day feeling took forever to get there!! And it was awesome. :)

I am looking beyond using points now and at CM discount seven nighters.

Sounds good, I will send you a message in a few weeks and see what's up. I will be around for sure!

Good to know. I think I would rather wait a bit longer and do a seven night with cash. Reading reviews and trip reports here really plays on the mind!

I was looking at going the dead week between spring and summer semesters as a little something to take a break. I think waiting longer to do a week would be worth it at this point. Last thing I want to do is take a vacation and feel it was enjoyable but too short.

Thank you for the input, everyone!!!

I wholeheartedly agree. We went on a 4 night Bahamas cruise on the Disney Dream about a month ago and loved it. We wished it would have laster a little longer. My wife and I previously did a 7 night night cruise on the Carnival Dream that went to Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Maarten (and I loved the Eastern Caribbean ports of call). Now, having determined that it will be difficult to cruise in the future on any line other than DCL, I think we have decided that we need to do a 7 night to the Eastern Caribbean on DCL. I have to get back to Castaway Cay.

That is a common sentiment. :)
