This Sucks!!! (rides closed during my visit)

SpectroMagic (at slow times) only runs on the weekends...but other than that, they run the daily parades and fireworks every night (weather permitting).

Tapestry of Dreams is ALWAYS CANCELLED! A slight breeze comes through World Showcase and they cancel it. (But, for the safety of the puppeteers and stiltwalkers)

You pay $48 to enter the parks every day of the year; therefore disney can close attractions for rehabs whenever they want, and they DO. You can complain all you want, but realize from October to mid-March, only one waterpark is open; rides close for rehabs all the time, and SpectroMagic and Fantasy in the Sky are only presented nightly during peak seasons; the current peak season ends around August 18, so you will see hours drop off after that point. Be happy they are running Spectro and Fantasy at all when you are there, as in the really slow months, they don't even run them on the weekends. You are not the first person to experience shortened hours or ride closures, and it's not a 'stunt'. Disney does it all the time; the other option is to run dangerous rides that go into a state of disrepair.

I remember the old days when MSEP and the Fireworks were at 9 and 10, and the park stayed open til 12 or 1...

ahh yes, the 80's were the golden days my friends...

Does anyone remember the show before Illuminations? I am trying to find the music from it. I still have GE lightbulbs (we stock up when they go on sale) saying "see the all new illuminations at WDW's EPCOT CENTER". I laugh everytime I change a light bulb.

YOU NEVERKNOW, THE PARKS (ESPEIALLY MK) SOMETMES CHANGE STUFF AT THE LAST MINUTE. BESIDE, YOU STILL HAVE THE SHARE A DREAM COME TRUE PARDE. BUT I GUESS NO SPECTROMAGIC. THAT BITES. SORRY

I just HAVE to convey this to you guys. The one and only time I've ever been to Disneyland the Matterhorn and Roger Rabbit were both closed, and when we got to the park Indiana Jones was down, too! Aahhhhh! What other reasons are there to go to DL? I was relieved when Indy finally got back up and running around 4 p.m. that day, but otherwise, I would rather have been at WDW.

The closures and rehabs is one reason I always like to go in the summer. Although hot (not as big of a deal for me since from Texas), there are less rides closed, the hours are longer, and there are more people. Although I don't like standing in longer lines, I really don't wanna go when its not closer to empty (well for WDW.) I like seeing all the people and interacting with them!

Are we suposed to feel sorry for you?

With a name like DisneyWorldGuru one would guess that you would know about events like this.

They are just rides. DOn't lose sleep over it.

I don't think that Disneyworldguru was looking for sympathy. I think he just wanted to share his dissapointment with some fellow Disney fans. Maybe sharing the information was helpful for others planning a trip at the same time. :)

Yeah. I am also going with people who have never been to WDW. I guess they will just have to miss the classics.

Go to www.waltdisneyworld.com then "Parks & More" then "Park Hours". It lists all the park hours and parade/fireworks/show times. I was just on the site and it does say that Share a Dream Come True parade, Spectromagic, Tapestry of Dreams parade, Stars & Motorcars parade, Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks, Illuminations, and Fantasmic will all be running that week. It doesn't look like there are any days that week that there are no parades or whatnot.

I know that they will. I just found that out. But MK wont have fireworks or parades (spectromagic) except like 2 times when I am there. Both times the people I am there with, wont be there.

I have been to WDW tons of times. I dont want sympathy or any "oh i am so sorry for you" kind of comments. I was just telling thoses who are going the same time what things will be closed. It just so happens that COP and Malestrom are 2 of my fav. rides.

I agree. I was planning on that but I guess y plans did not work out. At least BB will still be open. I hope...

At least some people here knows what it feels like to have a fav. ride closed.

I went to Epcot in July of 99...and to my horror I found Jii gone, Horizons gone, WOM gone and The Mexico ride closed for routine repairs. This was my first trip with my hubby and kids...they had never been to Disney. That was a bad day for me..I was foul. I wouldn't even get in line for TT and give it a chance. My husband and oldest daughter spent an hour or more in the line and then they closed the ride due to threat of inclement weather, which never appeared.
I'm pretty sure it is common to have a bad Disney day when you travel there often. On the upside, Test Track is my hubby's favorite ride now.He was able to sneak on a second time this last trip without waiting in line at all..he told a CM of his first experience with the ride and they gave us passes to get back on:)

I know how it feels to go to a park and have the rides closed. I went to DISNEYLAND for the first time this may and Space Mountain, Pirates of the Carribean, and Splash Waterfalls where all closed. I was really dissapointed. And I was only there for one day.
