This is safe?

How can the idea of packing people into a disney bus at night like SARDINES be safe. You literally can not move an inch. And it seems the more packed it gets the more insistant that the driver is to KEEP MOVING BACK. Theres little kids crunched up against mom and dad...babies..what the hec happens god forbid theres an accident or a rollover, etc...CAN NOT BE SAFE!

If it was unsafe, the NTSB would have stopped it 2 decades ago.

I've often thought it was unsafe, too. That's why I think it is important to be polite and offer seats to parents with small kids and babies as well as to people that look like they have a physical condition making it unsafe for them to stand.
Nice comment. I can't believe how many times I have been on a full bus at park closing, given up my seat to someone who really needed it, and watched others sit while mothers with babies stood.

Most of the time, I think it's pretty safe. The ride is only 20 minutes at most and usually the bus drivers are careful when taking turns and stopping. However, we have been on before and have been stumbling onto people when packaged into the busses. When My children were under 8, and the bus was looking packed, we would always let people cut us in line because we knew the kids needed a seat after a long day in the parks.

The only problem I have on a crowded bus is when there are people on the bus who have poor hygiene or forgot to change their baby's diaper. Being on on crowded bus is the same amount of freedom of movement as you have during a parade or fireworks, remember you are at the #1 tourist attraction in the world, maybe that will explain the crowds to you.

I totally agree. If everyone remembers to put on deodorant and brush their teeth, then I'm good.

I just have a hard time not leaning into people when the bus turns. I am too short to grab the bar or the loops so I usually have nothing to hold on to. I really feel bad for bumping into people!

If the bus is too crowded you can always wait for the next one.

You've been standing in lines all day, another 10 minutes isn't going to make a difference.

Your attitude is very insulting to women.

Women are perfectly capable of standing and holding their children, I'm sure you wouldn't offer your seat to another man.

Equal means equal, women aren't impaired and don't need special treatment.

I think the majority of us would offer our seat to anyone carrying a child - man or woman.

No you see the packing in is what makes it safe. Look at all the cushioning!!! Disney bus accidents where passengers get hurt are exceptionally rare. From what I can see people would rather be crunched in and make it back to their resorts than stand waiting another 20 minutes. I know I would and gladly crunch in. There is beer to be drank and relaxing to do at the end of the night.

Old thread, new curious attitude. A little kindness and decency should stretch far beyond the whole equal rights debate. It's called civility.

OK..I think many are missing my point here. YES you can wait for next bus...YES you can choose different mode transportation, YES you have choices..BUT my question is..Whether I choose to get on that packed like sardines bus or not....DISNEY allows this unsafe situation..WHY?...disaster waiting to happen. Only takes one time...YES subways have same problem..YES busses in NYC might have same..BUT DISNEY has ability to set their own standards. I dont want to be on that bus that one time there is accident where people must get out quickly but cannot because they cant move its so packed.

If there is one thing that is "bad" about Disney transportation, it is the packed bus issue! I never understood how that is allowed! It is unsafe! I have only experienced this on rides home @ night!:(

And yet, the same scene takes place in subways and buses everyday in thousands of cities across the country without incident.

Of course no one forces you to wedge yourself onto the crowded bus. You are in fact perfectly free to stand and wait until the empty bus of your choosing arrives.
Agreed. ^ How is this any different than riding the subway during rush hour?

I would offer my seat to another man holding his child, but I would not take no from a woman. Does that help clarify?

btw -
So did everyone else go check out SleepingMonk's profile to determine if you were reading a post from an unchivalrous **** or an extreme feminist? You are all so judgemental!! :animwink:

Gotta disagree with you here. If there is one "bad" about their bus transportation, it is multiple stops for deluxe resorts; although I suppose my complaint might just help mitigate yours. That being said, I don't feel any less safe in standing room only.

True. I guess it could be worse! OMG- the posts about the Japan Subway and the guys "pushing" them in- absolutely hilarious, yet sadly a bit scary!

I know Disney complies w/ safety standards. That's why I love Disney so much!:)

I liked the new "bendy buses"! Has anyone seen those rolling around WDW?

My husband started a near "fight" when a kid kept stepping on his toes! Again- the "people" on the bus make a difference w/ the "I" attitude!
