Could it possibly be a medical necessity? There are some people (like myself) with a condition that requires us to salt everything. I even have to carry salt pills on me. Otherwise, we could pass out from lack of electrolytes and sodium.

No, definitely not a medical issue with him. He just always said he loved salt, and a lot of it.
I also once worked with a guy who asked for extra lettuce on any burger, sandwich, etc. he ever ordered. He was very thin, and told us he hated eating and only did it to survive.
But, he also had a bit of a chemical addiction problem, that probably contributed to that.

I worked one season on a shrimp boat as a deck hand I would cook breakfast usually eggs and fresh fried fish. Capt Sonny would cook dinner no matter what it was had a ton of salt and Worcester sauce in it. One day I said to him all that salt is gonna kill you Capt Sonny. Boy was I proven wrong he lived to be 93

Maybe he’d a’ lived to 113 without all that salt…!!! ;)

The Worcestershire sauce reminds me of my lovely DWifey…
She loves Worcestershire sauce but hates anchovies with a passion (I put them on my pizza from a particular local place, to her disgust).
You should have seen her face the first time I hipped her to the fact that anchovies are a pretty main ingredient in Worcestershire sauce…!!!!!:hilarious:

Raises hand -- the same thing happened to me! My father used to love anchovies, and I could never stand even the sight of them. But I always loved Worcestershire sauce, and was stunned to learn that anchovies were mainly responsible for the taste! 🤦‍♀️
