And I never got a dream...! Congrats to those of you who did receive a dream, and here's hoping the next celebration is awesome.

WWYC is an even more blatant marketing scheme if you ask me.
But at least there is a reason. YOAMD was like saying after Disneylands 50th' Oh No' there is nothing to celebrate this year other than Epcot's 25th and no one cares about that'(Of course we ended up showing them.) and then someone said lets make up a celebration and market it and thus the 2 and a half Years of a Million Dreams. As for the avatar I just found it searching google. I will have to check out the site.

At least with this campaign I've already utilized their gimmick to it's full potential - Making for a happy Sparky. I've printed out my Birthday Certificated and planned my trip around it!

I guess I'm bitter. My birthday is the same as Easter day this year, nothing is worth going down and fighting all those people to me. The 4th of July was enough!

That said, even if I wanted to go on my b-day I couldn't b/c of grad school. The reason why I like YOMD better is I could win something anytime I was down, I didn't have to go at a specific time to have a shot at what they were offering. It just seems like it would be hard for some people to work the whole birthday thing into there schedule.

BTW, I won YOMD ears and MK fastpass.

The YOAMD promotion may have been over the top and run for too long, but getting a couple of minor 'dreams' there over the past two years were highlights for my DD7 and DD4. We played the music in the lobby before Philharmagic and joined the Hundred Acres Wood club outside MAoWtP ride. Those certificates are in my kids scrapbooks and thus are memories that cannot be forgotten.

As for WWYC, I am already tired of phoning Disney to book our trip for Jan 24th and getting asked by every CM if 'I am celebrating anything special' while we are there. I wish I was there for my birthday or 10 year wedding aniversary (both this August), but I am getting sick of being reminded I'm not going to be.

I know YOAMD ran entirely too long but I sorta liked the idea that I could 'randomly' have a dream come true. I know the Dream Ears were totally cliche or nothing special at all for a lot of people who received them but it was a really huuuuge deal for me. I had seen them all over and wanted them so bad it hurt. In my eyes the Mickey Ears have always been the quintessential Disney souvenier to have and covet so naturally the Dream Ears were just over the top for me. When Elton gave us ours, I kid you not, I cried. I have pics to prove it. That moment along with all the other little Magical Moments really made random moments really stand out. So for that reason, I did like the YOAMD and am sorta sad to see it go.

As for WWYC...I can't seem to get onboard for that one. It just feels so..so..I dunno..desperate..like they were hard up to find some ploy, ANY ploy. I just feels sorta cheap and not real imaginative. What Will You Celebrate? If you aren't celebrating any event such as a birthday, anniversary, graduation, etc. then doesn't it sorta make ya feel left out somehow? Not too smart, if you ask me. At least with YOAMD *everyone* could have a dream.

I am glad it is over as well. I entered the park over 100 times during the promotion and I did not receive a single dream. I do think that has to do with me either being a solo visitor or being with my mother or fellow 20somethings, but whatever. And yes, I did go early morning for park openings. So maybe I have bad luck, but it just didn't work for me at all as a promotion... I will be taking my free gift card on my birthday HAPPILY this year, though!! So yay for WWYC!!

We just returned from our first family trip to WDW a few hours ago and I am disheartened at the bitterness some of you have towards YOAMD. We were fortunate to have been given a dream on New Year's Eve. We were at Innoventions West when a Dream Team of 10 or 12 appeared and gave away the last EPCOT Dream Fast Passes. It made an already perfect trip even more special, and all because Spaceship Earth was too crowded and my DD7 wanted to do a Kidcot.

It was a magical moment and we were able to enjoy the most crowded day of the year because of this "marketing ploy". We are so grateful to the Dream Team and everyone we met at WDW. Our trip was even more wonderful than we hoped for.

I'm surprised there is so much hate for YoMD. It was one of the best, and most successful celebrations they've ever done.

What's makes more sense: showing a family winning a night in Cindy's castle (YOAMD commercial), or showing a private birthday party with pirates and cake that will cost over $100 while the voiceover is saying "get in free on your birthday" (WWYC commercial)?
