The World's Most Magical Celebration - Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary

So, weird question - are they having special food options for the anniversary?

The reason I'm asking is because they announced the treat list for Halloween season this year and it's pretty lame compared to last year's treats - especially at MK! (hey, I complained about something! :D) I'm wondering if they are offering other stuff for the 50th maybe...

BatB needed to be a far darker, narrower experience. Something through the castle. A modern Haunted Mansion in a way.
It seems to me with BatB they started with the trackless technology and then figured out what they could do with it, which ended up being having the vehicles dance to the music. They really should have figured out what sort of BatB ride they wanted to build and then chose the correct technology. Unless they really thought having a bunch of vehicles spin around the rooms to the music would make for a great ride.

Again, I think Ratatouille is a case where the technology matches the desired sensation of being a rat running through a kitchen very well due to the unpredictability of the vehicles and (relatively) narrow spaces they use.

Why does the subject of "walk-Through" attractions keep coming up? There are none currently and mostly because you are then stuck waiting behind throngs of people who hang out in the space making the line never ending. Walk through attractions just don't work... Which is why Disney used a conveyance system in attractions like The Haunted Mansion and Pirates Of The Caribbean... A Walk-Through attraction doesn't interest me in the least...A well designed dark ride is really what people want...
The park itself is already a sort of "walk Through" attraction...
Swiss Family Treehouse is a "walk through" attraction. So are the animal trails at DAK. Journey of Water will be as well. Other stuff like the actual pavilions at Epcot, Tom Sawyer Island, the trails around the ToL to see the animal carvings, etc could be considered walk through attractions.

Personally, I think the parks are made much better from having such options to compliment rides and shows.

Yes Swiss Family Treehouse...almost forgot that one...
The others are sort of part and parcel of the parks... That is like saying Fantasyland is a walk-through attraction and so are the gift shops.
The pavilions were sort of support players for the attractions they would house...or that was the plan for the most part... Italy and Germany are nice but I would not call them walk through attraction... as much as themed areas.

Anyone noticed that only the 10/1 park reservations are gone? And only two parks on 10/2? Then it’s all green.

I’m sure the same traffic jams that kept all the star only, non-Disney fans from “galaxies edge” away for the last 27 months is blocking the “for the 50th” crowd too👍🏻

I suspect more will open up eventually. They want to give the Annual Passholders something to go to and schools for students and faculty will deep in session./they will find ways to staff and operate more venues so they can allow for more capacity if situations improve.

My point was its pretty wide open for all…including APs…now

as far as those APs go…Disney may want to go ahead and sell those with all the bad Florida PR? Or delay them…I could see it going either way

I could too, but they opened that bag now and are waiting as long as they can, which will probably be around September 15th.

It’s possible…

they did say they’d announce this month…so those things could line up.

the longer they wait…the more likely people look to “bag the winter” due to covid…is my read

And don’t forget it’s not solely Entertainment for the 150th. Cedar Point also brought back a defunct attraction with Snake River Expedition. Their Celebration is very focused on capitalizing on the park itself as the brand.
It really is. It was great to see merch of attractions. Current and of the past. I bought a patch of Avalanche Run. What will I use it for? No idea but the logo is so neat looking and to have merch of something that old and forgotten was nice. Much better then spirit jersey #85 featuring the castle in a different shade of gold.

And for those that wanted pictures of the parade at night, here you go:

Thanks for sharing those. It looks great. The only video I found on a quick search was more of a family kid dancing in the street. CF and CP nailed it on this.

It's a bit light in this video but you get the idea:

The least Disney should be giving us are a few new floats. The fact they haven't even mentioned a parade of any kind for the 50th is disappointing. Cedar Point dumped $$$$ into entertainment and it shows. I want to see Disney do that. Then again, we still don't even have the Main Street or Hollywood citizens back.

I haven't been on it in person, but in watching a ride video, it looks like roughly 90% of the ride is just watching something on a screen in front of you. There are at least some physical props scattered throughout, but it looks more screen heavy than any currently existing ride at WDW outside of the aforementioned Soarin' and FoP.

It doesn't feel that way, though. It's truly immersive.

Even I’ve said I feel Rat is rather good 😂

Just to provide an alternate opinion, I've ridden Ratatouille a few times and didn't find it particularly immersive myself. It definitely felt to me like we were frequently parked in front of a giant screen.

The physical sets were fun and I wish there were more of them. A few animatronics would have really stepped it up as well.

I never waited very long in Paris and if I wouldn't wait too long for it at EPCOT, personally. But it's cute and has its moments.

This parade blows Soundsational out of the water and meets DEP in terms of awe in it's current state. And it's LONG! Incredible job by the Cedar Point team. This should really embarrass Disney.

Not sure it blows Soundsational out of the water if aesthetics are important...But I will say it blows WDW's 50th Anniversary Parade out of the water...because embarrassingly we are not getting one in this Most Value Engineered Celebration....
"We can do better but why bother?" should be emblazoned on all of their 50th merchandise.
