Here is the commercial -

"As we get ready for the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort, we’re sharing a first look at a magical, new commercial that calls you to the upcoming celebration and features hidden Easter egg surprises for eagle-eyed Disney fans!

In the commercial, Disney magic lives in a secret room tucked away inside Cinderella Castle. There’s so much magic in this room, it can’t be contained and is ready to burst through! Along with an EARidescent magic-filled “50th Anniversary” cabinet, this special room also contains a variety of artifacts from beloved Disney stories, characters and attractions.

See if you can find Cinderella’s glass slipper, the Enchanted Rose from “Beauty and the Beast” and 16 other Easter eggs here: "

Oh good, they're advertising special lighting on the 4 icons that they already announced they were going to do!!

Fun fact: They ground up 50 thousand pixies to create all that iridescent dust!

Really? I didn't see it as they were advertising special lighting. Just lighting up each park icon with magic dust, kind of a teaser commercial.

I liked it!

Maybe instead of paying for a beautiful and lavishly produced commercial to draw people to the 50th (and it is beautiful, I agree), Disney could spend money to ensure that there are enough hotel rooms for those guests to stay in, restaurants for them to dine in, live shows for them to see, more than one new attraction for them to experience, and a full slate of amenities (hotel rooms with actual housekeeping, an Epcot monorail that runs, park hours that extend beyond dinnertime, reintroduction of touring perks for onsite guests comparable to EMH and Fastpasses). Instead, I worry that "pretty lights on the weenies" - which is all this commercial promises - is all that the guests are going to get.

I pray my skepticism will be proven 100% wrong... ;)

You're not wrong but I think they need to do both. I mean whoever heard of a Disney Anniversary without commercials?

At the same time we need to see some dates for Entertainment here! Nothing has to open tonight but at least give us the light at the end of the tunnel!

Sorry folks you should have booked your park passes a year ago. Parks full. Good luck for the 52nd anniversary!

Agreed. Some dates for ANYTHING would be great at this point. How about Early Park Entry, which was announced in January and has yet to be given a start date? The reopening of the remaining hotels and restaurants? Completion of a construction project here or there? New attractions?

I realize part of my frustration is personal: Disney's silence is really cramping my own efforts to plan our August 2021 visit. We'll have to decide shortly whether to cancel our onsite hotel reservation, or cancel our alternative offsite AirBnB townhouse reservation and rental car. Unless or until Disney announces something -- anything -- to make an onsite stay more attractive, or to definitely let us know there won't be onsite perks during our visit -- we don't have sufficient information to make that decision, and may end up revenge-cancelling the onsite reservation out of sheer frustration with Disney's inability to tell us what we can and can't realistically expect if we stay there.

I am very meh on this.

I know we are not getting a lot of substance for this celebration. So, okay fine. Now let's play into the nostalgia. Play into old WDW. Show a kid at MK in the 70s now returning with grandkids or something. 80s Epcot, 90s MGM. Show the past and bring it home with the current/future.

With the parks already booked as well as hotels about full for the anniversary, why do a commercial at all? Why invest the million plus in an ad campaign that is unnecessary...they already have more business than they can accommodate Put that money into new attractions...things that will improve the guest experience instead of advertising that will not bring any new business to the parks...

Better yet for them, why even invest in 50th entertainment or refurbs at all since the parks are already booked...

Good point! They still need to invest in the 50th even if everything is booked south of UOR/SWO.

Still planning some 50th Entertainment? I don't mean Harm!

That commercial is basically a teaser/Disney continuing to be cautious. Im sure they have more to announce and they even said to stay tuned to the parks blog.

When you are talking about millions being spent for paid advertising and billboards... It seems unnecessary when they are budget-cutting on the attractions people are actually going to the parks to see...
We could have built a spectacular new attraction, but instead you are getting this great commercial and Billboards...Yay!
