Another night and day comparison between the WDW 50th and DLP 30th anniversaries is that today, on DLP's 30th, they held an event with Imagineers at the Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel that was live streamed:

The atmosphere also just seems so much more festive than the weird day of the 50th in the Magic Kingdom, as you can see with guests entering the park today greeted by Cast Members:

And my boy Tony attended this event....unlike WDW's 50th.
He knew where to go!
😎

The actual 50th on October 1st was so disappointing.
I am yet again reminded of that day.
It was not a good day to be a 'old school' Park Fan.
What a let down.....but hey, limited edition popcorn buckets and cupcakes!
Woot!
😑

I am still amazed by the weirdness of WDW's actual 50th anniversary.

I'm not sure Disney has ever held a celebration where expectations and execution were so misaligned to the point where it seemed that everyone was wandering around assuming that something else surely must be planned, but it just never came.

I know there can be a tendency to pin everything on the CEO, but it is hard not to raise an eyebrow that this was the big curtain raiser event in the parks for Chapek as CEO and it was so terribly mishandled. Particularly considering that his background was precisely in the parks division.

Nice, also, that they are including the CMs in the anniversary celebrations at Disneyland Paris:

This....even cast hardly mentioned it, it was almost like upper management said don't bring it up. Chapek blame or not, something happened in upper management, TDO? Glendale? that said do nothing.
It should forever be an embarrassment to the company. Yes there were some pandemic issues at the time still,,, but still. They could have done something.

I do find it hard to believe that this can't be traced to the top, particularly when you consider how important milestones in the parks have been for former CEOs. For example, Disneyland's 50th was more or less Eisner's big farewell and the opening of Shanghai Disneyland was supposed to be the pinnacle of Iger's tenure as CEO. That Chapek's time as CEO was inaugurated by this celebration of WDW's 50th is... interesting.

...and Disneyland's 60th was Tom Stagg's big farewell, he got so mad that he didnt get CEO that he casted a evil curse upon the Disney parks, this curse would later be known as 'Bob Chapek'.
